Health and Safety SpecialistJob Description
The EHS Specialist will be responsible for directing and driving the facilities EHS systems for the Midwest Region’s Tulsa, OK, and Wichita, KS locations. This highly visible role involves ongoing continuous improvement plans within the MRO Midwest Business Unit and the Aerospace & Defense Division.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional EHS expertise and leadership to establish a robust and sustainable EHS culture.
- Identify and assess risks throughout the facility and develop control measures consistent with a zero accidents, zero environmental incidents culture.
- Lead and manage facility EHS programs and systems to ensure worker safety and compliance with USDOL OSHA, US EPA, and state regulations.
- Complete all regulatory reports, logs, and forms accurately and timely, preparing EHS reports for management documentation.
- Serve as the primary contact with regulatory agencies and provide counsel during significant site accidents or environmental incidents.
- Coach, lead, mentor, and develop managers, supervisors, and employees to achieve EHS objectives and support EHS knowledge development.
- Create and implement EHS practices, procedures, metrics, systems, and structures aligning with best practices and regulations.
- Conduct regular plant EHS audits and risk assessments, implementing changes to mitigate risks and improve facility programs.
- Develop and improve accident investigation and near-miss incident programs to meet the goal of Zero Accidents.
- Review all EHS programs annually and manage industrial hygiene programs, ensuring prompt corrective action as needed.
- Allocate EHS resources efficiently, establish the annual EHS business plan and operations budget, and ensure consistency with the plan.
- Manage site Safety Data Sheets for finished products and support US DOT and International Hazmat shipping directives.
- Align EHS initiatives with corporate directives and support property and worker’s compensation insurance initiatives.
- Facilitate facility audits with the property insurance company, addressing and implementing corrective actions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications- Eligible for certification as CSP, CIH, or CHMM
- Experience using equipment for inspecting, testing, monitoring, and measuring environmental levels
- Hands-on experience with EHS programs in Aerospace environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills

Work Environment
The work environment is a repair shop that is temperature-controlled. The position requires working Monday through Friday from 10pm to 6:30am, and steel-toed shoes are mandatory.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
