What you can expect as an Leave & Benefits Specialist at West Star:
As a detail-oriented Leave & Benefits Specialist you will manage companywide leave of absence programs and benefits administration across multiple business units and states. This role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, accurate benefit administration, timely employee communication, and seamless coordination between payroll, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:
Administer full leave of absence lifecycle (FMLA, ADA, state and company leaves).
Track and maintain Symetra FMLA and ADA claims, including documentation review, deadlines, responses, and case updates.
Communicate leave status, approvals, denials, and return-to-work expectations clearly with employees, human resources team, and managers.
Calculate return-to-work benefit deductions and premiums owed and communicate balances and repayment schedules to employees.
Manage leave sharing donation pool.
Review and process Qualifying Life Events (QLEs) for all business units, ensuring documentation compliance and timely enrollment updates.
Reconcile monthly benefit invoices.
Administer and support the company Wellness Program, including eligibility tracking, incentive administration, and vendor coordination.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company policies related to leave and benefits administration.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records related to leaves, benefits, and medical documentation.
Respond to employee benefit and leave inquiries.

What you’ll need to bring with you:  

Your Education:
Bachelor’s degree required (Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred)

Your Experience:
3+ years Human Resources, benefits, or leave administration experience
Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and benefits processes
Multi-business unit or multi-location HR experience
High attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent time-management skills
Strong communication and customer service skills
Experience with HRIS and benefits platforms

Your sense of responsibility:

Attend work every day as scheduled on time and overtime as needed.
Follow all company rules during performance of duties.

Working Conditions:
This work will be performed 100 remotely from home.
Resides in Central, Mountain, or Pacific Standard times is preferred.
Scheduled to work Monday- Friday normal business hours.

Equipment Used:
Computer operating with Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, etc.
Cell phone and other office equipment.

Compensation & Benefit Information

The following information is disclosed according to state specific requirements. If the position applied to is not in a state with these requirements, the following information may not apply. The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $28-$36. Actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience and performance. Additional compensation in the form of a shift differential will be provided if the employee is assigned to an alternate shift. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package. Other forms of compensation include a semi-annual discretionary bonus, 401(k) company match and employer contribution to a Health Savings Account (HSA).
