As a Leave of Absence (LOA) Specialist at Life Link III, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting the people who power our mission. You’ll bring your expertise to administer and manage all employee leave programs—including FMLA, Minnesota Paid Family and Medical Leave (MN PFML), ESST, ADA, workers’ compensation, long-term disability, and military leave. Serving as the primary guide for employees navigating complex leave processes, you’ll provide compassionate support while ensuring strict compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This is a fast-paced, highly impactful role where your knowledge, attention to detail, and commitment to service help ensure that our teams can continue delivering lifesaving care—every time it matters.

This is a Part-Time, Remote position with occasional travel to Minnesota.

Your Impact:

Employee Support amp; Consultation

  • Serve as the go-to resource for employees and managers regarding leave-related inquiries
  • Provide empathetic, confidential guidance and clear communication about leave rights, processes, and policies
  • Proactively update employees throughout their leave and assist with questions or concerns
  • Support ADA accommodation requests and contribute to the development of leave policies and education materials

Leave Administration amp; Case Management

  • Administer the full lifecycle of leave requests, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance
  • Process and track all leave types, including intermittent leave, using leave management systems
  • Coordinate with third-party administrators and insurance carriers for disability and workers’ compensation claims
  • Manage timecard entries and return-to-work protocols, including drug screens and training coordination

Compliance amp; Documentation

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all applicable leave laws and company policies
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, confidential, and securely filed
  • Conduct regular audits and generate reports on leave usage and compliance metrics
  • Support the onboarding function with pre-employment and random drug testing
  • Assist with general HR tasks and projects

Your Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field preferred (4 years’ HR experience may substitute for degree)
  • 2-5 years’ HR experience, with focus on leave management
  • Hands-on experience with FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation, and knowledge of state paid leave programs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with government-required leave forms and HIPAA compliance
  • Excellent communication, customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and professionally
  • Strong interpersonal, motivational, and team-building skills
  • Proven ability to foster an inclusive, collaborative, and ethical work environment
  • Customer-focused with effective communication and active listening abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Experience supporting multi-state, diverse employee populations (including shift and 24/7 operations)
  • Experience with HRIS/case management/leave tracking platforms (especially UKG)
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification
  • Benefits administration experience
  • Prior experience in HR compliance

What We Offer:

  • Part-time schedule: 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, during business hours
  • Compensation: $35.00 – $40.00 per hour depending on experience
