Linux Systems Administrator (Contract)
Halifax, NS 6-Month Contract $45–$50/hour
We’re supporting a leading Aerospace client in their search for an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to join their team on a 6-month contract in Halifax, NS.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Linux-based systems (primarily Red Hat)
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues proactively
- Perform hardware maintenance, including replacement of components and rack-mounted servers
- Manage system updates, upgrades, and configurations
- Maintain storage, networking, and virtualization environments
- Ensure adequate spare parts inventory and support lifecycle management
- Collaborate with remote teams while independently resolving on-site issues
- Interface with customers to communicate system status and maintenance requirements
Required Experience & Skills
- 7+ years of Linux system administration experience
- Strong troubleshooting skills across Linux systems and networks
- Hands-on experience with:
- Red Hat Linux, OpenLDAP, autofs, NFS
- PXE, Kickstart, Anaconda
- Bash scripting and VMware environments
- Experience working independently in a fast-paced, operational environment
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex, previously unseen issues efficiently
Additional Technical Experience
- Ansible, Docker, containers, and build stacks
- TrueNAS, GitLab, PKI certification management
- XRDP and backup solutions (Rapid Recovery, EMC Networker, Veeam)
- Disk encryption tools (LUKS, Clevis, Tang)
Additional Responsibilities
- Regular interaction with end users/customers
- Assist with equipment handling, including receiving, transport, and disposal

- Active Secret Security Clearance
- NATO Secret Clearance eligibility
