OCC Compliance Standards & Training Specialist

Your role

The Compliance, Standards & Training Specialist based in the Operations Control Department reports to the Safety, Compliance & Training Manager and is primarily responsible for developing and maintaining training and compliance programmes including procedures which ensure safe, efficient Operations and which are fully compliant with the requirements of EASA, IOSA, the IAA and any other relevant statutory and regulatory bodies. Responsible for the ensuring that all Operations Control Staff are trained and checked to operational standards as defined in the Operations Control Manual / Operations Part D.

 

The Compliance, Standards & Training Specialist should have experience in the following areas:

  • Assist the Safety, Compliance & Training Manager in the fulfilment of their responsibility for directing the management of Safety, Operations and Training for Operations Control.
  • Development and publication of Operations Control procedures and documentation in accordance with regulatory and company requirements including updating and revision of the OCM and Operations Manual Part-D.
  • Prepare, develop, and deliver initial and recurrent training in accordance with mandatory, regulatory and company requirements including mandatory IAA, EASA and IOSA training and the development of E-Learning Training modules and Artificial Intelligence training aids and support.
  • Ensure that required training records, regulations, manuals, and material concerning Operations Control training are retained and maintained in accordance with IAA, EASA, IOSA and Aer Lingus requirements.
  • Prepare, participate, and assist in the compliance monitoring programme including IOSA and associated corrective action plans.
  • Responsible for the investigation and report of Operations Control safety incidents in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Responsibility, as a member of the Operations Control Safety management group, for maintaining the Operations Control management components of the SMS. Undertake Hazard Identification Risk Analysis [HIRA] as required to determine and mitigate against potential safety risks for the department.
  • Monitor and evaluate any potential changes in procedures, training, and equipment that may be considered necessary to improve safety and research external training opportunities relevant to Operations Control.
  • Actively contribute to and support the wider Management Team across a range of projects.
  • Coverage of various Operations Control Functions and duties as required, including maintaining recency as a Flight Operations Officer by operating on the desk on a regular basis.
  • OCC liaison and coordinator for the Operations Graduate Programme candidates, Aer Lingus Transition Year programme students and future company graduate and work experience initiatives.
  • Deputise on behalf of the Safety, Compliance and Training manager as required.

 

 

Your qualifications and key criteria

  • Completed Flight Operations Officer (Europe and Atlantic) training course or equivalent Flight Dispatch qualification.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in an airline operational role or equivalent Experience in delivering training.
  • A demonstrated knowledge of ICAO, IATA, IAA and EASA regulatory requirements. 
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to present facts and opinions articulately & objectively. 
  • Strong organisational skills to manage and maintain documentation, processes and procedures. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and supervisory skills with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with a wide variety of departments. Know how to engage, manage and direct people and teams. 
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to create presentations and impart information clearly and confidently to staff at all levels.
  • Capability to identify training needs, versatile and ready to change and adapt to training and business needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
  • Knowledge and skills in training techniques to ensure delivery of training programs, whilst providing for real and valuable learning. 
  • High degree of computer skills, particularly Microsoft office and Operational Systems e.g. LIDO, AIMS, CHMI. 
  • Clear analytical approach with attention to detail.
  • Resilient with a ‘can-do’ attitude to work.
  • Proven decision-making skills and problem-solving skills and a keen desire to take ownership of activities. 
  • The ability to use own initiative while contributing effectively as part of a team. 
  • Excellent planning, co-ordination, monitoring and evaluation skills. 
  • Enthusiastic, flexible and adaptable with a positive attitude to change. 
  • Appreciation of the role played by Operations Control in achieving overall company objectives. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive working relations at all levels. 
  • Self motivated with the drive, energy, enthusiasm and commitment to achieve results. 
  • Enthusiastic team member with a flexible attitude in providing support across a range of activities.
  • Computer literate with a proficiency in Microsoft Office and other Aer Lingus systems.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Eligible to live and work in the EU.
  • Hold a current unrestricted worldwide passport.
  • Able to pass an aviation security vetting process, that includes an enhanced background check* or be in possession of a current airside pass for the airport as this position is based in Dublin.
