Position
The Obsolescence Data Analyst reports to the Manager, Obsolescence, and is responsible for the development and maintenance of DHC’s Proactive Obsolescence Model. This role involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to the availability and lifecycle of components for DHC aircraft, and making strategic recommendations for treating obsolescence issues. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and external suppliers to proactively identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and contribute to ensuring uninterrupted support for our customers.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Establish an Obsolescence database to house available Supply Chain, Commercial, and technical data pertaining to the known obsolete parts on DHC aircraft.
- Perform root cause analysis to identify trends in historical obsolescence data.
- Develop a model to proactively identify part obsolescence vulnerabilities and forecast obsolescence issues. Recommend preventative treatment plans for obsolescence risks.
- Develop and maintain Obsolescence Management Plans (OMP) for critical aircraft systems.
- Support cost-benefit analyses of alternative solutions such as last-time buys, redesigns, or part substitutions.
- Identify revenue-generating opportunities for high-risk system-level upgrades.
- Identify obsolescence treatment inefficiencies and recommend treatment best practices.
- Develop “Design for Obsolescence” criteria to be considered in new designs and technologies incorporated into DHC products.
- Lead the selection of a dedicated obsolescence software tool and its incorporation with DHC’s enterprise PLM.
- Provide information, guidance, and recommendations in the prioritization of obsolescence projects in treatment.
- Assist in the development and recommendation of overall strategies for obsolescence management.
- Represent Corporate Operations and Programs, the Obsolescence Team, and DHC’s Obsolescence Management Program in internal and external obsolescence meetings.
- Generate detailed reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate results of analyses, inform stakeholders and facilitate decision making.
- Ensure application of professional standards and company processes are followed in accomplishing work activities.
- Always represent De Havilland in a professional and courteous manner in every interaction, both internally and externally with suppliers and contractors.
- Actively contribute to improving existing processes and support DHC continuous improvement initiatives.
Education and Professional Qualifications:
- Undergraduate or master’s degree in data or computer science, Engineering, or Science, or equivalent experience, preferably Aerospace-related.
- Data Analysis experience in an Aerospace-related environment is required.
- A thorough understanding of Aerospace Supply Chain Management and component Lifecycles are required.
- Experience with De Havilland aircraft is considered an asset.
- Understanding of Obsolescence challenges in the Aerospace industry, including the impact on customer operations, afterspanet sales and commercial development.
- Thorough knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of Obsolescence Management is required; experience working in Obsolescence Management is considered a distinct asset.
- Some occasional travel both domestically and internationally may be required therefore the successful candidate will be required to maintain any prerequisites and/or criteria to carry out travel legally.
Skills:
- Proficiency in data analytics tools (Excel, Python, PowerBI) and database management systems.
- Excellent ability to communicate a strategy using PowerPoint and to work with Excel and MS-Project.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in clear and concise matter to multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and work effectively with people at all organizational levels.
