We are hiring a Payroll Specialist in our Calgary head office. If you are seeking an exciting new opportunity with a dynamic organization that is constantly evolving, we want to hear from you!

The group of payroll specialists will be key contributors during an exciting and challenging consolidation project. We are looking for a team player who is willing to work with a variety of stakeholders, from our accounting and finance team to our engineers and manufacturing teams. This position will involve travel to our Victoria and Toronto offices to support transitioning groups during the consolidation project. This position will report to work on-site in our Calgary Head Quarters.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process weekly and biweekly payroll for salaried, hourly-non-union, and hourly-union pay groups across Canada, as well as a smaller monthly international pay group.
  • Provide coordination support for our payroll inbox, including password resets, employment verification letters, updates to employee records, including adjusting pay rate(s), changing employee status, calculating final pay, issuing ROE’s, etc.
  • Regular participation in compliance reviews for statutory reporting and filing requirements in provincial and federal regulations, including Stats Canada and Service Canada requests
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting using Ceridian Dayforce exported to Excel.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Ceridian Dayforce modules such as payroll, time away from work, timesheets, and schedules for new and existing managers and employees.
  • Collaborate with the payroll specialist group to discover opportunities for standardization and process improvements within the payroll cycle and provide proposals to the Payroll Manager for implementation of best practice and alignment to the greater organization.
  • Provide feedback in the development and implementation of payroll and benefit-related policies, as well as process and training documentation for new and existing users through an exciting and challenging consolidation period.


Qualifications

  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is required; ideally, candidates would be working towards their PLP (Payroll Leadership Professional).
  • A minimum of 5 years of full-cycle payroll experience, including knowledge of multi-provincial and federal regulations, and ideally 3 years working in Ceridian Dayforce
  • Excellent time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Advanced or expert knowledge of Excel and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, specifically SharePoint
  • Strong work ethic, customer service focus, and a positive “can do” team attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are required, along with the demonstrated ability to handle sensitive issues with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Demonstrated the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
