Production Planner- Maternity cover
Job Description:
We’re looking for a Production Planner to join us on a 12-month maternity cover contract—someone who loves bringing order to complexity and making a real impact on delivery. In this role, you’ll build and refine manufacturing schedules that balance demand, capacity, and material availability, partnering closely with procurement, operations, quality, and logistics to keep everything aligned. You’ll monitor plan performance, flag risks early, and adjust to keep work moving, while maintaining accurate ERP/MRP data and finding smart ways to improve batch sizes, cycle times, and resource utilization. If you’re detail-oriented, collaborative, and enjoy solving problems with data, you’ll thrive here—and help us deliver for our customers with quality, speed, and cost in mind.

Job Description

  • Plan and schedule production based on demand forecasts, capacity, and material availability.
  • Optimise schedules to minimise changeovers, reduce lead times, and improve resource utilization.
  • Monitor schedule adherence, identify risks, and adjust plans to mitigate delays and meet delivery targets.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with procurement, operations, logistics, and quality to align inventory, supplier lead times, and customer commitments.
  • Maintain master data in ERP/MRP systems, including BOMs, routings, and work center capacities.
  • Analyse performance (OTD, cycle time, WIP, inventory turns) and drive corrective actions.
  • Manage exceptions (shortages, machine downtime, engineering changes) and communicate clear recovery plans.
  • Support S&OP/MPS processes, capacity planning, and scenario analysis.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives in planning accuracy, data integrity, and standard work.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain within manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP (e.g., SAP, Oracle, IFS) and Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Good understanding of BOMs, routings, lead times, inventory management, and S&OP/MPS.
  • APICS/ASCM CPIM/CSCP certification would be beneficial
  • Exposure or familiarity with lean/continuous improvement processes
