Summary

The Production Planner Specialist is responsible for overseeing the planning, directing, organizing and controlling for the master scheduling of all plant furnace operations, material planning, inventory control, and logistical functions to meet company strategic objectives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensures a safe and environmentally compliant work place that meets all regulatory standards. Assures compliance for all company, regulatory, and EH&S policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to all Company 6-S initiatives and policies.
  • Must demonstrate personal integrity and the ability to conduct themselves and their job responsibilities in accordance with PCC’s Code of Conduct.
  • Analyzes multiple technical, customer, and manufacturing variables including alloy chemistry, furnace lining condition, revert availability, and sales plan to oversee optimum schedule development for furnace operations.
  • Studies and reviews manufacturing processes to optimize plant safety, efficiency and continuous improvement of production methods, labor, machinery, tooling, and equipment.
  • Confers with internal and external customers and all levels of the organization to gather information, communicate and coordinate vacuum and air melt furnace schedule for planning and other purposes.
  • Manages commercial relationship with key intracompany accounts.
  • Assists in developing and implementing strategic business, budgeting, cost reduction, and interference management activities.
  • Works closely with Quality, Sales and Technology departments to assist in resolving customer issues and technical problems pertaining to product quality, delivery and other technical concerns.
  • Assists in establishing manufacturing manning levels and directs the workforce to meet company labor objectives.
  • Prepares, analyzes and maintains detailed reports to support planning, inventory, procurement, and logistical functions.
  • Performs all aspects of the position according to the PCC Code of Conduct and SOX guidelines.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from a four-year college or university in Supply Chain/Planning, Manufacturing, , Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lean Manufacturing (Six Sigma) knowledge.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear; frequently required to stand, walk or sit; regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms; occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The typical work environment is a standard office setting / office contained in a foundry or manufacturing setting. The employee is occasionally required to perform work in a foundry environment with occasional exposure to work near moving mechanical parts / work in high temperatures / risk of electrical shock; the typical noise level is moderate noise.
