We are looking for SPACECRAFT PROPULSION STRESS ANALYST to join our Propulsion Products and Tanks engineering team in Stevenage.

At Airbus, we specialise in the propulsion systems and components used in exciting missions such as the MARS SAMPLE RETURN mission, the next generation of climate observation satellites such as EARTHCARE and BIOMASS, providing telecommunications and navigation services such as ONESAT and GALILEO, as well as the NASA ARTEMIS human exploration missions to the moon and beyond!

How you will contribute to the team

  • Perform spacecraft propellant tank and system pipework design and analysis work
  • Apply as appropriate, the required dynamic and static analysis techniques for light weight pressure vessels plus associated pipework and structures design and manufacture
  • Undertake fracture control assessments of pressure vessels
  • Own product documentation; requirements, design and justification, test plan, verification, user manuals, failure mode analysis
  • Prepare, review, and present at design reviews (PDR/CDR/FRR…)
  • Participate in concurrent engineering with propulsion design, thermal control, integration and test and mission systems analysis disciplines plus external suppliers as needed

About you

  • Experience in aerospace or technical industries in the design, development, qualification, integration, and operation of hazardous pressure vessels
  • Interested in structural dynamic and static analysis plus fracture control disciplines
  • Able to apply both classical hand analysis from first principles and computer techniques including the use of the industry standard finite element software packages.
  • Able to plan corrective measures when identified during integration or test, and comfortable reporting to customers and/or supplier
  • Prepared to manage work packages and direct functional teams
