Job Summary:

The QA specialist has primary responsibility for determining conformity for Cirrus products manufactured under the Production Certificate. This individual is knowledgeable of pertinent FAA regulations, orders and policy and possesses integrity, sound judgment and a cooperative attitude. The QA Specialist b is responsible for ensuring inspection processes developed meet the engineering standards and quality procedures. The qualified applicant will need to demonstrate attention to detail, thoroughness with tasks, integrity, sound judgment and a cooperative attitude.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Leads and mentors junior Quality Assurance team members

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Reads, interprets and inspects to drawings, procedures, and process specifications that govern manufacturing processes.
  • Communicates any findings to the appropriate department(s) for corrective action.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of the quality assurance manual and the processes/procedures within.
  • Performs inspections on parts and assemblies for use in the construction certified aircraft. Specific testing requirements such performing FAIs and conformity inspections as specified by drawings, specifications, and applicable industry codes.
  • Coordinates inspection coverage with supervisor, manager, or responsible person in charge.
  • Prepares timely, detailed reports of the inspection and testing results, including descriptions, drawings, photos, etc., of nonconforming details with deficiencies noted.
  • Other responsibilities, as required/assigned. Analyzes finished aircraft assembly bonds, parts, or components to determine acceptance or rejection based on drawings, specs, and procedures
  • Ensures accuracy and completion of all paperwork and planning having to do with operations performed and materials consumed
  • Identifies design and process improvement opportunities and communicates them to area leadership.
  • Co-Develops plans to increase efficiencies within area of responsibility.
  • Ensures that all assigned work areas are kept clean, orderly, and presentable. Applies 6s principles. Wears proper protective equipment during appropriate job functions.
  • Updates paperwork, such as work instructions, that govern job duties for new processes.
  • Demonstrates sound leadership qualities when working with teams.
  • Good communicator in both oral and written methods in the English language
  • Flexibility with job functions and the ability multi-task.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by area leaders.

Education and/or Experience:

2-year technical degree or equivalent combination of training, knowledge, and on-the-job experience

Current or prior experience as a FAA Designee (DAR, DMIR or ODA Unit Member)

A&P license preferred

ASNT NDI certification preferred

Demonstrated Proficiencies/Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Must be able to work as part of a high performing team.
  • Ability to work independently during daily job duties
  • Exceptional attention to detail is required
  • Must be proficient in interpretation engineering drawings and specifications
  • Must be a tactful communicator
