Role Introduction
Reports to: Business Project Manager
The Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) works round the clock to support our flight crew and ground employees in unexpected situations. We are the first point of contact in an emergency, and we help Flight Operations exercise operational control. The mission of IOC is to balance priorities of all the frontline operational sections, maintain schedule regularity and act in a safe, legal and cost-effective manner to recover the schedule after disruption.
As the RAVE Optimisation Analyst, you are responsible for modelling business rules and objectives using Jeppesen Pairing and Rostering planning optimisation software. You support the business to do analysis and impact assessment of new potential scheduling practices. You will use the RAVE and python programming languages to enhance the systems with new functionality to improve business processes and to enable the organisation to better achieve the business objectives in improving efficiency and crew lifestyle choices.
Key Responsibilities
- Modelling business rules and objectives using the Jeppesen Crew Pairing and Rostering systems
- Analysing scheduling solutions, doing scenario runs and suggest new ways of working to the business
- Implement, document and test new system features
- Extract and analyse data from the planning system and present results to key stakeholders
- Ensure that the planning and rostering system design fits well into the overall ecosystem of Cathay IT
Requirements
- Bachelor (or equivalent education qualifications) in Mathematics, Operation Research, Computer Science, Aviation or other related field
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience in software development or operational research
- Experience with Python or other general purpose programming language
- Linux knowledge and basic command line skills
- Well-developed analytical problem-solving skills with an ability to think out of the box
- A natural inclination to challenge the status quo and pro-actively searches for better ways of working.
- Strong communication skills with an ability to explain complex technical concepts to a wide audience
- Driven and self-motived, have a curious mind and like to stay up-to-date with the latest trends in tech.
- Must be well organized, thrive in a sense-of-urgency environment, leverage best practices, and most importantly, innovate through any problem with a can-do attitude
- Experience with airline crew scheduling is preferable
- Experience with Jeppesen Crew products (or other equivalent) is preferable
