Job Description:

Position Summary

Ensure shipping and receiving processes are performed efficiently and accurately 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  1. Enter job number in WW3 and verify part number and footage

  2. Prepare hose for shipping by creating boxes, filing with applicable hose and quantity, labeling and arranging conformance certificates

  3. Call freight carriers for pickup as needed

  4. Prepare all shipping documents for transfer

  5. Help with unloading trucks and check for damage before accepting deliveries

  6. Receive all raw material, equipment, facility and production supplies into WW3, label accordingly and place in safe area

  7. Assist with maintaining accuracy of inventory in warehouse

  8. Update shipping and receiving logs 

  9. Partner with planner, production supervisor and team leads to coordinate communication and efficiency of operation projects

  10. Deliver material to production departments as needed

  11. Act as a backup for pressure test

  12. Maintain work area in clean and orderly fashion, follow 5S practices

  13. Know and practice all safety regulations and quality guidelines

  14. Report production issues to Direct Lead

  15. Perform work of an equal or lower classification

 

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  1. Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment.  Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk.  Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.

  2. Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.

  3. Maintain production schedules.

  4. Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Natural High Performance Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.  

  5. Other duties may be assigned at a later time.

Qualifications

Education required:

High School diploma or GED; Valid driver’s license required

Experience:

Production work preferred but not required

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  1. Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  2. Basic knowledge and use of hand tools

  3. Sound decision making skills

  4. Good math, reading, writing skills

  5. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude

  6. Strong trouble shooting skills

  7. Be able to exercise continuous mental, visual, and audio attention

  8. Ability to work well in a team environment

Skills/Competencies:

1.  Basic computer skills 

2.  Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in     order to take appropriate action.

3.  Vision: Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks.

4.  Requires constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail.

5. Ability to drive a motorized vehicle.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:

 

  • Report directly to Value Stream Team Leader

  • Work closely with Maintenance to resolve issues with the equipment

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The employee may be subject to:

 

  • High noise levels from operating machines and equipment.

  • Physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels.

 

  1. Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection)

  2. Standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting is performed on a regular basis

  3. Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions

  4. Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime.

 

The employee may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.
