Let your career take flight by joining our diverse and vibrant team at the leading edge of passenger aviation.Reporting to the Director, Pensions, the Specialist, Pensions will be part of the team who oversees and manages the companys pension arrangements and ensures their effective administration. They will be involved in developing a communication strategy, helping oversee the governance of the pension arrangements and leading various special projects, where in-depth knowledge of pension legislation, actuarial principles and industry trends will be key.
This position will be located in Montreal.Key Responsibilities:
Lead the implementation of changes to the design of the pension plans with pension administrators and actuaries (amendments, communication with employees, review changes to administration system, actuarial cost, accounting impact, etc.).Lead the implementation of major special pension projects (e.g. ERIP, VSP).Recommend communication strategy and develop ad-hoc communications for plan members.Manage the preparation of company financial statements and pension plan financial statements with the various stakeholders.Coordinate the exchange of information between external actuaries and third-party administrators to support the preparation of actuarial valuations and various actuarial costings. Review and validate the resulting reports and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.Participate in the regular review of all governance documents, such as policies, frameworks and guidelines, including monitoring, reporting and updates.Be a subject-matter expert for the governance, design, communication and administration of affiliated companies’ pension plans.Support the Director, Pensions with the preparation of pension-related material for meetings with the board and executives.Ensure compliance of service providers with their mandate.Coach, develop and train pension analysts.
QualificationsBachelors degree in actuarial science or a related field.Extensive experience (typically 10-12 years) as a retirement consultant or as a pension manager within a large organization.Strong knowledge of Canadian pension laws and regulations (experience with federally-registered pension plans is an asset).Demonstrated expertise in pension accounting and actuarial principles.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels and external stakeholders.Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.High level of integrity and discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential information.Bilingual (English and French)Knowledge of Microsoft suite including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
