Job Functions:
- Promotes and fosters a safe and secure operating environment.
- Applies standard concepts, practices and procedures within the Payroll Department.
- Responsible for the reconciliation, filing and compliance of the Companys federal and state payroll taxes.
- Supervision of payroll specialist during the payroll tax process
- Ensures timely and authorized payment of employees paychecks.
- Responsible for processing at least one collective bargaining units payroll
- Supports at least one other collective bargaining units payroll.
- Ensures payroll compliance with collective bargaining unit(s). Requires detailed understanding of contract pay rules.
- Ensures employees are paid in compliance with Company policies.
- Calculates, verifies, inputs and posts data for assigned payroll(s). (Extensive for the pilot payroll.)
- Verifies gross pay, net pay, taxable wages and non-worked pay for assigned payroll(s).
- Responsible for specific bargaining unit(s) time accrual records relating to sick and vacation time.
- Handles various payroll adjustments, such as shortages, discrepancies, garnishments, etc.
- Assists in the training and development of new staff members.
- Considers the employee as a customer of the Payroll Department.
- Prepares periodic payroll-related reports and analysis.
- Maintains payroll files.
- Provides backup to others in the payroll department and assists with special projects.
- Recommends changes to departmental procedures and processes for purpose of internal control and efficiency.
- Evaluates impact of changes to Company business activities and applies applicable rules.
- Adapts to changes in guidelines and applies exceptions when authorized.
Required Competencies:
- Judgment and initiative necessary in setting priorities to meet deadlines and to deal with non-standard situations or discrepancy notices from employees.
- High degree of professionalism and ability to keep sensitive information confidential.
- Ability to communicate fluently in English.
Education & Experience:
Required:
- Associates degree in accounting or equivalent experience with computerized payroll functions.
- Minimum of one-year specialized experience in relative collective bargaining unit payroll functions.
- Proficient in UltiPro and either Kronos or Crew Trac
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills.

Work Environment, Physical Demands & Travel:
- Corporate office; may be eligible for hybrid work.
- Majority of time spent at low activity level, i.e., sitting.
- Occasional standing/walking/movement required.
