Summary:
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a Systems Administrator in San Diego, CA. In this high-impact role, you’ll help design, implement, and maintain advanced computing environments that support vital aerospace and defense missions. Your work will ensure secure, reliable, and efficient systems for programs that safeguard national security and drive technological innovation.
What You’ll Do:
Work hands-on with engineers and technicians in a lab environment.
Integrate emerging technologies into complex system architectures.
Implement engineering changes to optimize system performance.
Configure and sustain Linux-based environments, applying STIGs and security best practices.
Utilize Splunk for monitoring and analysis.
Develop scripts and automation using Bash, Ansible, Python, or similar tools.
Collaborate with peers, SMEs, and customer engineers to meet technical requirements.
Travel occasionally (up to 10) to support program needs.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or related field with 5+ years of STEM experience
(OR 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree).
Advanced expertise with Red Hat or other Linux operating systems.
Hands-on experience with Splunk, DNS (Linux BIND), and STIG implementation.
Scripting/programming proficiency (Bash, Ansible, Python, etc.).
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.
Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.
Full on-site presence in San Diego, CA.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with imaging/backup tools (Clonezilla, Linux dump).
Leadership and team mentoring experience.
Knowledge of containers (Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes).
Proficiency with virtualization platforms (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V, RH-V).
Understanding of networking fundamentals, including iSCSI.
Experience designing and sustaining Linux/Unix and containerized environments.
Flexibility to support varying schedules, including 2nd shift or weekends as needed.

Pay Details: $100.00 to $120.00 per hour
