KCNSCs New Mexico Operations (NMO) provide state-of-the-art engineering, manufacturing, transportation technologies, emergency response and sourcing facility produces a wide array of intricate components to deliver trusted national security products and government services.

Were looking for a Senior Communications Specialist with exceptional writing and project management skills to join a high performing communications team that works across all functions to drive strategy, engage employees and support the mission. This is a unique role where you can grow as a corporate communicator and make an immediate impact.

This new position will lead an all-encompassing range of corporate communications responsibilities for our New Mexico Operations (NMO), including employee engagement, internal communications, leadership support, community outreach, media relations, digital content, and the coordination of VIP visits to NMO. This is a "hands-on," versatile role that will partner with NMO leadership and be an integral member of the KCNSC communications team. The ideal candidate has the skills necessary to produce outstanding work within a fast-paced culture, while tackling a variety of writing and event projects that connect employees and stakeholders to the mission, ensuring consistency across all channels of communication.

Duties and Responsibilities

The responsibilities of this position include:
• Internal and executive communications support for NMO leadership team to keep our workforce engaged. Provide counsel and resilient communications plans to help achieve objectives.
• Writes clear, concise and engaging news stories under tight deadlines and superior editing skills.
• Promote the site through various KCNSC channels.
• Own the logistics/processes for all employee meetings, including presentation support.
• Partner with KCNSC communications team members that support our Global Security and Nuclear Weapon Program businesses.
• Align with Community Relations Lead to promote volunteering, mentoring, civic engagement and scholarship initiatives in the greater Albuquerque area.
• Work with External Communications Lead to identify and engage Albuquerque area news media to promote positive media coverage and protect NMOs reputation. This role will also support crisis drills and communications strategies.
• Provide External Communications with content for KCNSCs Social Media initiatives.
• Support video and photography projects to enhance visibility of NMO across all channels.

You Must Have

• U.S. citizenship in order to obtain and maintain U.S. Department of Energy "Q" level security clearance.
• Undergraduate degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
