Job Description:

The Avionics Technician III is an entry-level position ideal for new graduates from Avionics or A&P technology schools. Also ideal for mechanics with less than five years of aircraft experience. Our Step-Level Progression training program can help you acquire your FAA airframe license.  

WORK LOCATION: Onsite at AAR (at Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City, OK.) 

SCHEDULE (Full-Time/non-exempt and variable, 4050-hour workweek) 

Supervisor determines shift/days required, but we can discuss in interview process. Typically, more flexible candidates will be preferred.  

  • 1st Shift: 7:30am to 4:00pm or 5:30am to 4:00pm 
  • 2nd Shift: 3:30pm to 12:00am or 3:30pm to 2:00am  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Perform basic aircraft maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting tasks under supervision 
  • Ensure aircraft are safely maintained in accordance with the Airworthiness Standards 
  • Use FAA approved/accepted data (i.e., IPC, M/M, OHM, SRM) proficiently 
  • Maintain records in compliance with FAA and company requirements 
  • Perform avionics repairs as assigned while meeting deadlines and quality standards 
  • Read and follow technical publications, schematics, and/or mechanical drawings 
  • Use a PC, iPad and basic computer applications and programs 
  • Additional job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management 
  • Adherence to work schedule, punctuality, and self-motivation

Job Requirements:

PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS 

  • 2 years avionics experience required 
  • Must be at least 18 years of age 
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required 
  • Some general maintenance experience (including relevant experience outside of aviation) 
  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude and attention to detail are crucial 
  • Able to skillfully use the minimum tools required 
  • Fluent in English (speech, reading, writing)

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS 

  • FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant license (A&P)  
  • Valid Driver’s License  
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations including 14 CFR

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • Constantly: Lifting 10 lbs., standing, walking, wrist flexion and extension, environmental weather conditions 
  • Frequently: Lifting 40 lbs., push/pull <20 lbs., climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, squatting, crawling, kneeling for extended periods, working in confined spaces. Working above chest-level, overhead, and away from body for extended periods. Bending, twisting of torso, twisting and/or pressure with wrist/hands, fine finger usage, moderate vibrations up to 2 hrs. to high vibrations up to 30 mins. Vision with/without correction; near <20”, far >20’, and basic depth perception (shapes). Working at elevated heights 4, working on ladders, scaffolding, uneven surfaces, and energized parts.  
  • Occasionally: Lifting and/or carry ≤50 lbs., sitting, basic color vision, operation of motorized or electrical equipment, push/pull <50 lbs., work in wet conditions.
