PDS Defense, Inc. is looking for a highly skilled Aircraft Electrical Mechanic III to join our San Antonio operation. This senior-level role is ideal for an experienced aircraft electrician who excels in complex wiring systems, depot-level modifications, and advanced troubleshooting—and who enjoys leading by example.

Work Schedule

  • Availability to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts
  • Overtime (scheduled and unscheduled)
  • Weekend and holiday work as needed
  • 100% onsite in San Antonio
  • Travel up to 25%
  • Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance required

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Aircraft Electrical Mechanic III, you will perform advanced electrical installation, modification, troubleshooting, and repair on aircraft systems, supporting depot-level maintenance and upgrade programs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform complex connector terminations (shielded, coaxial, and fiber-optic wiring)
  • Fabricate, route, install, modify, and inspect wire bundles and harness assemblies
  • Interpret and follow routing instructions, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, tech orders, and specifications
  • Perform sealing, wrapping, bonding, tying, and closure of wiring harnesses
  • Conduct troubleshooting and fault isolation of aircraft electrical and communication/navigation systems
  • Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot-level wiring modifications
  • Perform installation, inspection, and quality verification of electrical assemblies
  • Follow blueprints, sketches, charts, SOPs, and job layouts
  • Ensure full compliance with tool control and safety procedures
  • Coordinate material and tool movement in support of project work
  • Operate electric-powered elevating equipment
  • Maintain required certifications, licenses, and permits
  • Perform duties of lower-level Electrical classifications as needed
  • Provide guidance and informal mentoring to junior electrical technicians
Job Requirements:
  • 10+ years experience in electrical/electronic theory and avionics systems
  • 10+ years experience interpreting schematics, assembly drawings, and SOPs
  • 10+ years installing, repairing, modifying, testing, and troubleshooting aircraft wiring systems
  • Proven experience fabricating wire bundles
  • Experience routing and installing wire bundles (commercial routing preferred)
  • Ability to work variable shifts, weekends, and overtime
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to obtain customer approval for access (Dual or prior foreign citizenship may impact eligibility)
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain clearance 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Avionics experience
  • Depot-level or aircraft modification maintenance experience
  • Ability to operate forklifts, mobile cranes, and elevated equipment
  • FAA A&P certification

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Climb ladders and work in confined spaces
  • Lift up to 35 lbs (assist with team lifts of 50+ lbs)
  • Work on elevated platforms and in high-noise environments
  • Use required PPE (eyes, face, ears, hands, arms)
  • Pass visual acuity and color-perception testing
  • Handle hazardous materials and maintain training certifications
  • Frequent walking, standing, balancing, and overhead reaching
  • Occasional climbing (3–12 ft), crawling, bending, squatting, lying down, and foot-control operation
  • Frequent exposure to noise and occasional contact with metals
  • Read, write, and comprehend English
