Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Aircraft Mechanic II to support CH-53E maintenance operations at MCAS Miramar. This role performs aircraft maintenance of moderate difficulty across structural, mechanical, hydraulic, and powerplant systems, while occasionally leading small teams through more complex tasks.

This position is ideal for a mechanic who is technically strong, capable of troubleshooting independently, and ready to take on increasing responsibility in a dynamic operational environment.

Work Environment:

  • Flight line and hangar environment supporting operational USMC aircraft. Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with aircraft maintenance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance, repair, and modification of aircraft structures and structural components
  • Maintain and repair flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components
  • Troubleshoot airframe and powerplant systems and restore equipment to operational condition
  • Interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and manufacturer publications
  • Support Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage (ECOD) preparation, and recommend MWO changes
  • Utilize aircraft-specific tools and precision test equipment
  • Lead teams through more complex maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Inspect work performed by Mechanic I and II personnel
  • Make required aircraft logbook and maintenance record entries
  • Prioritize workload to maintain aircraft schedules

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • Strong troubleshooting background in aircraft mechanical systems
  • Broad knowledge of sheet metal and structural modification/repair
  • Basic understanding of electrical theory

Experience with aircraft-specific tools including:

  • Torque wrenches
  • Dial indicators
  • Micrometers
  • Sheet metal brakes and shears
  • Aircraft test equipment
  • Working knowledge of aircraft technical publications
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Specializations in sheet metal, avionics, electrical systems, or other aircraft disciplines are a plus.
