The Avionics Installer IV leads and supports technicians performing avionics installations on aircraft. This role is responsible for fabricating wire harnesses, installing and terminating wiring, performing ring-outs, and assisting with functional testing of avionics and electrical systems. The position ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide work direction to technicians and ensure tasks are completed within scheduled timeframes
- Coordinate with cross-functional departments to support on-time aircraft delivery
- Install, modify, and fabricate wiring, electrical components, fixtures, and related equipment per engineering drawings and blueprints
- Fabricate and terminate wire harnesses; assist with testing and troubleshooting avionics systems
- Support Engineering in resolving technical issues and implementing repairs
- Train and mentor team members in avionics installation tasks
- Maintain required logs, records, and documentation
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and customer specifications
- Enforce FOD, tool control, 5S, and safety programs
- Inspect completed work to ensure defect-free assembly prior to final inspection
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, YIAW, etc.)
- Assist team coordinators and support shift transitions when required
