JOB TITLE           AVIONICS MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN III - Weekends

DEPARTMENT    AVIONICS

JOB SUMMARY

This hourly, non-exempt position requires a basic knowledge of aircraft avionics and instrument systems. This includes varying amounts of parts replacement or repair, electrical troubleshooting, inspection of aircraft or systems and general avionics bench applications.  Supervision of aircraft and bench work and direction of project flow will be a primary function.  Work order coordination of work flow for the project will also be a primary function.  Work order processing, log book entries and pricing to the customers are routine duties.  Job duties will vary each day and will encompass projects as designated by the Avionics Repair Assistant Manager. Will be required to work independently and lead multiple projects.  Will have direct customer contact.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Attendance
Perform general avionics support items on aircraft.  This shall include, but not be limited to items such as removal and installation of panels and components and repair work.
Troubleshooting and evaluation of systems on the aircraft when designated.
Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components when designated.
Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling to support operations.
Work independently on projects and lead multiple projects as assigned. Schedule and work quality are essential in these functions.
Work with customer in project management, pricing and customer support roles.
Must be willing to work overtime and alternate shifts as required
Must be willing to work as part of the “On Call” rotation team

Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.

Job Requirements:
Job Specifications

Education                    

High school diploma or equivalent.
Electrical tech school.
Avionics specific training preferred.
 
Experience                  

5 - 10 years prior avionics experience.
3 years Gulfstream aircraft experience.
FAA paperwork, work order and billing process experience.
 
Initiative                       

Self-motivated and able to maintain a rapid pace.
Able to process work with minimum supervision.
Ability to lead and provide incentive to other team members.
Able to deal directly with customer, including with areas of conflict.

Responsibility             

Must perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
Maintain customer oriented work habits.
Direct the work and flow of multiple projects.
Complete all work orders, FAA paperwork, logbook entries and billing items.
 
Contacts                     

Other technicians in avionics or other departments.
Team Leader of other teams assigned to project, Avionics Repair Assistant Manager.
Company sales representatives.
Customers or outside vendors.
 
Physical Requirements  Able to lift as least 50 lbs.
Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.
Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands.
Basic personal computer operation.
 
Mental Requirements  

Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines.
Ability to troubleshoot or evaluate system operation.
Ability to work with others in a professional manner.
Ability to coordinate project.
 
Supervision                 

Will directly supervise technicians.
Work with minimal supervision from Avionics Repair Assistant Manager.
Work with other Team Leaders on multiple projects in a cooperative manner.
 
Working Conditions 

The majority of work will be accomplished in a heated hangar.
Work outside during aircraft runs will occur.
Varied positions in and around the aircraft.
 
Equipment Used  

Personal hand tools supplied by the technician.
Various electrical equipment.
Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices.
Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.

Personal computer and work order prints.
