JOB SUMMARY:

To work as part the Mobile Service Technician team (MST), focused on the maintenance activities and work scope of the Customers Citation aircraft. To install, adjust, functional test, troubleshoot and repair avionics systems on board the aircraft at remote locations. Will assist the MST A&P with reviewing the work scope with Customers and adding squawks as required. Will respond to Customer inquiries and be responsible for assuring Customer satisfaction by coordinating with the Service Center Team. Will assist the MST A&P with overseeing the maintenance of the mobile service vehicle, ensuring vehicle is properly serviced and road worthy at all times.

Works with the Mobile Service Technician team (MST),focused on the maintenance activities and work scope on Customers’ aircraft. Will functional test, troubleshoot and repair avionics and electrical systems on board the aircraft at remote locations. Serves as main point of contact for Customer avionics and electrical issues. Meets with Customer at location, review avionics and electrical work scope, and add squawks as required. Responsible for coordinating and communicating avionics and electrical work scope with the Customer. Responds to Customer inquiries and responsible for assuring Customer satisfaction by coordinating with the Service Center Team. Will assist the MST A&P with the maintenance of the mobile service vehicle ensuring vehicle is properly serviced and roadworthy at all times.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Performs the functional testing required to isolate a customer complaint in a particular avionics system and repairing that aircraft system in accordance with FAA procedures.

o Based on in-flight analysis and/or evaluation of information received from the customer, diagnoses problems and takes corrective action.

o Troubleshoots problems on defective units or wiring discrepancies.

o Replaces defective units, repairs wiring and modifies. Works from appropriate Textron Aviation schematics, blueprints and service bulletins.

o Responsible for final testing of avionics equipment and signing off customer discrepancy sheets.

o Ensures all transmitting and receiving equipment (includes pulse equipment) complies with all applicable FCC rules and regulations.

o Installs modifications on the aircraft, including wiring build-up and aircraft installations.

· As required, accompanies pilot in flight for diagnosis and observation, or to functional test repaired systems and/or align systems.

· Orders and obtains parts necessary to effect aircraft repairs. Assures that cores are returned in accordance with established procedure.

· Responsible for communicating safety expectations of the Service Center.

· Monitors the work environment to assure it is maintained in a safe and orderly condition.

· Identifies and corrects unsafe acts.

· Responsible for continually updating knowledge and staying current on latest avionics developments and equipment to maintain current status of all FCC and FAA repair station licenses.

· Works as a member of a team focused on meeting customer expectations requiring Mechanics and Avionic Technicians to assist each other as required.

· Must obtain a Textron-issued driver license and possess valid state-issued driver license. Both are required to operate Company-owned vehicles or vehicles under Textron control.

· Performs related duties as required.

· Plans and performs functional testing, troubleshooting, repair, alignment, calibration and modification of avionics and electrical systems on board the aircraft in accordance with FAA procedures.

o Based on in-flight analysis and/or evaluation of information received from the customer, diagnoses problems and takes corrective action.

o Acts as crew leader to assist a crew of Avionic Technicians in troubleshooting an avionics/electrical system problem to a defective unit or wiring discrepancy.

o Works from Cessna, Beech, and/or Hawker schematics, blueprints, service bulletins and vendor information.

o Responsible for the final testing of avionics/electrical equipment and signing a release form in the aircraft log book.

o Ensures all transmitting and receiving equipment (includes pulse equipment) complies with all applicable FCC rules and regulations.

o Ensures that all maintenance, preventive maintenance, alterations, or specialized services performed are in accordance with the Inspection System Procedures as outlined in the Quality Control Manual.

· As required, debriefs customer on avionics/electrical discrepancies and has frequent contact with customer requiring courtesy, good judgment and tact in resolving avionics/electrical problems and customer complaints.

· Guides and instructs three or more, lower classification employees in performing avionics/electrical related testing, troubleshooting and repair.

· Responsible for communicating safety expectations of the Service Center.

o Monitors the work environment to assure it is maintained in a safe and orderly condition.

o Identifies and corrects unsafe acts.

· Assist the MST A&P with overseeing the maintenance of the mobile service vehicle ensuring that the mobile service vehicle is in safe operating condition, all fluid levels are at proper levels, tire pressures are correct, wiper blades, hoses, tires, etc are all inspected, repaired or replaced as required. Responsible for scheduling all required maintenance such as oils and filters changed to ensure that the mobile service vehicle is properly serviced per the vehicle’s maintenance schedule.

· Assist the MST A&P to ensure that all equipment, tooling, and tools with the mobile service vehicle are inspected, properly maintained and serviced as required to ensure safe and efficient operation.

· Dependent on the specification of the vehicle and the amounts of hazardous material transported, may be required to possess a Commercial Drivers’ License per 49 CFR part 383 of the Federal Motor Carriers Regulations. Required to have a Commercial Medical Card and comply with all applicable DOT Code of Federal Regulations pertaining to the operation of a commercial motor vehicle.

· Responsible for assuring all avionics equipment has current calibration status and is in serviceable condition.

Job Requirements:

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Equivalent to 4 years high school plus a level of training equal to 2 years college or technical school
  • Over 3 years experience in aircraft avionics systems, troubleshooting, and repair

Preferred:

  • Airframe and Power Plant Certification
  • Minimum 1-2 years on Cessna, Hawker, or Beechcraft aircraft.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Generally good working conditions occasionally exposed to disagreeable weather conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Duties require a broad knowledge of electronics and ability to use all test equipment connected with this field
  • Must have knowledge of the operation of avionics systems including communication, navigation, auto-pilot, flight detector, pulse equipment including DME, transponder, and weather radar.
  • Must be able to obtain an Airport Security Badge through the local airport authority (if applicable)
