Job Title: Avionics Technician II
Job DescriptionThe Avionics Technician II provides advanced technical expertise and hands-on leadership in the testing, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of aircraft avionics and electrical systems. This role ensures aircraft are delivered in a defect-free condition by performing complex operational and functional tests, implementing engineering changes, and guiding other technicians in best practices. The position requires a strong focus on safety, quality, documentation, and schedule adherence while supporting continuous improvement and cross-training initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced operational and functional testing of avionics and electrical systems to verify performance, reliability, and compliance with engineering specifications and maintenance manuals.
- Troubleshoot complex avionics and electrical system discrepancies using schematics, wiring diagrams, and test equipment to minimize schedule impact and ensure timely repairs.
- Install, repair, and functionally test electrical and avionics components and systems in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and approved maintenance procedures to ensure defect-free installations.
- Repair or replace defective components, wiring, and connectors using accepted techniques such as splicing, soldering, and pinning to ensure conformity and airworthiness.
- Set up and operate necessary avionics and electrical test equipment, and conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate system performance and reliability.
- Oversee and perform work associated with engineering changes and modifications, ensuring all changes are properly implemented and documented.
- Teach and mentor other technicians in avionics system operation, installation methods, testing procedures, and troubleshooting concepts to support cross-training and skills development.
- Pre-inspect the work of other technicians, when required, prior to formal inspection to reduce rework and inspection time and to support overall quality objectives.
- Maintain accurate and complete daily logs, work records, and documentation for all work performed on aircraft systems in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical expertise in the testing, calibration, and maintenance of test equipment and electronic systems and components as required.
- Enforce and adhere to company programs and regulations including Foreign Object Damage (FOD) control, tool control, 5S workplace organization, and all applicable safety procedures.
- Adapt to sudden schedule changes, shifting priorities, and varying workloads while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Coordinate effectively with other disciplines, departments, and team members to support project requirements and maintain schedule commitments.
- Demonstrate leadership capabilities and fill in for the team leader when needed, ensuring that safety, quality, and schedule goals are consistently met.
Essential Skills- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in an avionics or electrical career field, or two (2) years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics plus two (2) years of related experience.
- Recent hands-on avionics experience (4+ years) working on aircraft systems and components.
- Strong expertise in avionics systems operational testing, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Proficiency in avionics installation, including routing, terminating, and securing wiring and harnesses.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
- Demonstrated skills in repairing and replacing defective components and wiring using accepted practices, including splicing, soldering, and pinning.
- Experience using avionics and electrical test equipment to perform functional and operational tests.
- Strong focus on safety, quality, and regulatory compliance in all aspects of work.
- Ability to maintain accurate logs and documentation for all work performed.
- Capability to adapt to and work any shift, including days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work in a structured environment with established programs such as FOD control, tool control, and 5S.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- FCC certification preferred.
- NCATT certification preferred.
- Experience as an aviation troubleshooter with strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on experience with aviation wire harness fabrication, installation, and repair.
- Ability to teach and mentor other technicians in avionics installation, testing, and troubleshooting processes.
- Experience coordinating with multiple disciplines in a maintenance, modification, or production environment.
- Demonstrated ability to support process improvements and implement changes that reduce cost and maintain schedule without compromising safety or quality.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Savannah, GA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.19 - $32.19/hr.
