Job Description

This role focuses on the installation, routing, termination, testing, and documentation of aircraft electrical wiring systems on heavy-lift helicopters, specifically Sikorsky S-64, within a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) environment. You will work primarily on-wing in a hangar setting, performing troubleshooting and repairs, with occasional in-shop fabrication of wire harnesses.

Responsibilities

  • Route and install aircraft electrical wiring on heavy-lift helicopters, with a primary focus on on-wing installations and troubleshooting.
  • Inspect, clean, test, and remove aircraft wiring as required to ensure proper function and compliance with maintenance standards.
  • Read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation to perform accurate installations and repairs.
  • Select appropriate wiring, electrical components, and tools for each task in accordance with technical specifications and standards.
  • Install, test, and terminate wire harnesses on aircraft in hangar environments, ensuring quality workmanship and proper documentation.
  • Perform basic in-shop fabrication of harnesses when needed to support aircraft maintenance and modification activities.
  • Remove, replace, and repair aircraft panels to gain access to wiring runs and components, then restore panels to proper condition.
  • Document all maintenance actions accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance and avionics personnel to troubleshoot electrical issues and support overall aircraft readiness.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and best practices while working in hangar and shop environments, including proper use of tools and equipment.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in aircraft electrical wiring routing and installation.
  • Hands-on experience with avionics and electrical systems on aircraft, preferably in an MRO or similar maintenance environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Strong skills in installing, terminating, and testing wire harnesses on aircraft.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair aircraft electrical and avionics wiring issues.
  • Experience working with heavy-lift aircraft or similar complex aviation platforms is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to use and maintain hand tools and specialized electrical tools safely and effectively.
  • Willingness to work second shift (3:00 pm – 2:00 am, four 10-hour days) if required after an initial period on day shift.
  • Strong attention to detail, quality, and documentation in all maintenance activities.
  • Ability to work effectively in aircraft hangar and shop environments as part of a maintenance team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience specifically with Sikorsky S-64 or similar heavy-lift helicopters.
  • Familiarity with aviation wiring standards, best practices, and industry regulations.
  • Use of good quality flush cut wire cutters (required).
  • Experience using Cannon plug pliers and safety wire pliers (strongly suggested).
  • Interest in growing into additional roles, including potential field team assignments alongside A&P-certified personnel.
  • Desire to build a long-term career within a specialized heavy-lift aviation environment.

Work Environment

The role is based in aircraft hangar and shop areas in Medford, OR, working directly on heavy-lift helicopters in an MRO setting. You will have access to a highly advanced electronic tool crib that provides a wide range of tools and equipment to support your work. The standard shift is Monday through Thursday from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm and Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, with overtime opportunities on top of that. After approximately three months, you may transition to a second shift running from 3:00 pm to 2:00 am on a four-day, 10-hour schedule, and you must be open to this schedule change. The second shift is a growing team with an established lead in place, offering the chance to contribute to and grow with a developing operation.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $52.00/hr.
