Job Title: Avionics Wire Harness Technician – Spacecraft Manufacturing
Job DescriptionThis role focuses on the fabrication, assembly, and installation of avionics components for a full fly-by-wire spacecraft. You will build and install wire harnesses, data acquisition units, and sensors, perform wire routing and terminations, and support troubleshooting and repair activities. Using a variety of shop tools and equipment, you will help ensure that spacecraft avionics systems are manufactured to the highest standards of quality, safety, and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate and assemble avionics components and install them on the spacecraft, including wire harnesses, data acquisition units (DAU), and sensors.
- Perform harness installation, wire tying, wire bundle routing, wire stripping, terminations, and continuity checks in accordance with work instructions and engineering documentation.
- Assist the manufacturing team with installation, design, development, and testing of parts and technologies used on aircraft and in space exploration.
- Utilize shop tools and machinery such as multimeters, soldering irons, crimpers, wire strippers, and cutters to complete daily tasks safely and accurately.
- Adhere to directions and guidelines from team leaders to support collaboration across teams and ensure projects are completed on time and to specification.
- Provide input based on technical and operational knowledge to support assessment, repair, and maintenance recommendations for assigned programs.
- Work on moderately complex manufacturing assignments, exercising judgment to resolve issues or make recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure quality and efficiency of installations, including performing troubleshooting activities and, when needed, providing guidance on troubleshooting processes and concepts.
- Follow detailed assembly instructions to complete complex project assemblies accurately and consistently.
- Continuously practice safe work habits and maintain strong Foreign Object Debris (FOD) awareness and prevention, strictly adhering to regulatory protocols and rules.
- Collaborate effectively with fellow technicians and interdepartmental teams to achieve shared goals and complete assigned tasks.
- Maintain good housekeeping, practice proper tool control, and handle hazardous materials and chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines.
Essential Skills- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of three years of experience in aircraft fabrication and assembly or an equivalent industry environment.
- Hands-on experience with aircraft wire harness fabrication and installation, including line-replaceable unit (LRU) build-up and installation.
- Proficiency using computer applications to follow manufacturing work instructions and document work performed.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and models in both paper and digital formats.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical and avionics systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely with multimeters, soldering irons, crimpers, wire strippers, cutters, and related shop tools.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds as part of daily duties.
- Familiarity with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in a manufacturing or hangar environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Understanding of current manufacturing practices and a strong willingness to learn cutting-edge spacecraft manufacturing techniques.
- Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) training is preferred.
- Knowledge of performing high-quality repairs on malfunctioning systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively on technical projects with fellow technicians and cross-functional teams to achieve goals and solve problems.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to share information in a timely, respectful manner and remain open to other ideas.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing philosophies and tools is a plus.
- Ability to focus on detailed tasks while maintaining awareness of the broader project objectives.
- Safety-focused mindset, including consistent practice of good housekeeping, tool control, and proper handling of hazardous materials and chemicals.
- Flexibility to work either 1st or 2nd shift as scheduled and to support overtime when available.

Work Environment
This position is based in an aircraft hangar environment with temperature control; however, humidity levels may be elevated due to the nature of aircraft components and processes. You will work around active manufacturing operations and avionics installations, using tools such as multimeters, soldering irons, crimpers, wire strippers, and cutters on a regular basis. Shifts are structured as either a 1st shift from Monday through Thursday or a 2nd shift from Thursday through Sunday, with the possibility of overtime depending on project needs. The role requires consistent use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to strict safety, FOD prevention, and housekeeping standards to maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr.
