Job Description
Join our dynamic team in supporting flight operations by maintaining and troubleshooting drones. You will be responsible for building vehicle components, replacing parts, and ensuring test specifications can be executed with available resources. Your findings will contribute to the continuous improvement of our operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the existing fleet of aircraft and ground equipment, as well as new systems for function-specific flight tests.
- Run tests to validate system improvements, new technology for performance and design validation, and new processes.
- Perform tests and demonstrations related to US FAA Type Certification.
- Verify that test specifications are correct and executable with available resources.
- Create test setups that align with engineering specifications, including interpreting test procedures and diagrams, instrumentation, data acquisition, test article diagnostics, and root cause analysis.
- Accurately report test incidents in layperson terms.
Essential Skills
- Experience in commercial aviation or aviation maintenance.
- Prior flight test or hobbyist flight experience with Unmanned Aerial Systems is desirable.
- Troubleshooting and comfort with electromechanical build and repair projects.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, bandsaws, manual mills, torque drivers, and wrenches.
- Ability to read SOPs and technical instructions.
- Strong communication skills for reporting data to the engineering team.
- Attention to detail and focus on safety during flight operations.
- Ability to lift up to 25kg regularly.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Soldering skills.
- Familiarity with electronics, mechanical repair, avionics systems, and troubleshooting.
- Strong problem-solving skills, good judgment, and proactivity.
- Ability to understand and interpret technical documents such as electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Organize data for ease of understanding.

Work Environment
You will work outdoors, primarily at an open-air hangar in the rugged foothills of Northern California, with about 85 of the day spent in the field. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including day, swing, nights, weekends, and rotational shifts. Be prepared for constant change due to operational needs, working both in the shop and on the road with sprinter vans for field maintenance.
