Independently operate, install, adjust, and maintain integrated computer/communications systems, consoles, simulators, and instrumentation used for air and space vehicle launch, tracking, positioning, and evaluation. Configure and troubleshoot data acquisition and test measurement equipment without supervision. Accurately record, analyze, and interpret complex test data for engineering evaluation and mission readiness. Apply standard procedures to ensure system performance and reliability.

  1. Basic understanding of wiring diagrams and methodology: wire spaning, wire routing clamping, symbols, and simple interconnect diagrams, bonding/grounding
  2. Basic understanding of parts handling and disposition
  3. Basic knowledge of electricity
  4. Basic understanding of avionics hardware removal and replacement: equipment racks, mounting structures, standard fasteners
  5. Documentation and Regulatory Compliance: understand and use of MM manuals and company paperwork such as removals and squawk sign off.
  6. Understanding and able to use computer systems such as Corridor, ATP, Textron One view.
  7. Basic Understanding of Avionics test equipment: Multimeter, Laversab Air data tester, Barfield Air data tester, Druck Air data tester, GE Air data tester, IFR4000/6000, TRX
  8. Thoroughly understand the fundamental principles and accurately demonstrate the correct procedures for grounding an aircraft.
  9. Demonstrate the proper procedures and safety precautions to apply power to an aircraft
  10. Perform an acceptance inspection for newly arriving aircraft.
  11. Perform an inventory of aircraft equipment.
  12. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the fundamental principles and correctly perform the procedures for removing and replacing avionics hardware.
  13. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of fundamental principles and accurately perform the proper procedures for installing airframe components.
  14. Exhibit in-depth knowledge of torque principles and correctly apply proper torquing procedures for threaded fasteners and plumbing lines.
  15. Fully understand and correctly execute the procedures for inspecting, removing, and installing safety devices, including AMSafe components.
  16. Ability to safely operate a digital or analog multimeter to measure voltage, resistance, and continuity in avionics circuits. Understanding test lead configuration, range selection, and safety precautions. Can interpret basic readings and identify common faults in wiring or components with minimal guidance.
  17. Able to set up and operate the Laversab Air Data Test Set for pitot-static system checks. Understands basic test sequences, menu navigation, pressure calibration functions, and can verify airspeed, altitude, and vertical speed parameters. Can detect leaks or discrepancies and interpret displayed data under supervision.
  18. Proficient in configuring and using the Barfield Air Data Tester to simulate and verify pitot-static inputs. Understands connections to aircraft test ports, performs altitude and airspeed sweeps, and monitors pressure decay/leakage. Able to operate the tester through standard procedures and recognize abnormal responses during functional tests.
  19. Capable of independently performing basic test functions with the Druck unit, including automated test scripts for altimetry, airspeed indicators, and static systems. Understands parameter input, reference value comparison, and test documentation. Can troubleshoot common interface or pressure issues.
  20. Understands the operational workflow of the GE Air Data Tester, including initiating and controlling tests for pitot-static validation. Able to conduct altitude and airspeed checks, input test parameters, and interpret test results in relation to maintenance manuals. Can assist with calibration procedures and report data accurately.
  21. Demonstrates the ability to set up and operate the IFR4000/6000 or TRX test sets to evaluate transponder, DME, TCAS, and communication systems. Understands test modes, antenna connections, and functional test procedures per manufacturer specifications. Can interpret pass/fail results, adjust signal parameters, and verify system compliance with minimal oversight.
  22. Able to configure and operate a TCAS test set to perform system interrogations, verify bearing accuracy, and simulate traffic scenarios. Understand aircraft interface connections, test range limits, and can evaluate system response under test conditions. Capable of identifying common system faults and validating TCAS functionality in line with maintenance procedures.
  23. Comprehend in depth the basic principles and demonstrate, to a high degree of proficiency, the ability to use a volt / ohmmeter.
  24. Comprehend in depth the basic principles and demonstrate, to a high degree of proficiency, the ability to perform slip torque checkout of autopilot servos
  25. Installs various communication / navigation equipment

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent required.
  • 2- Year Electronics Technology degree
  • 4 years prior work history dealing with aircraft avionics and test equipment
  • 4 Years’ Experience working with Garmin G1000
  • Experience with the following test equipment: Pitot/static tester, Nav 401L, AT 600, Oscilloscope
  • Previous FBO/general aviation experience required.
  • Must meet the requirements of Airport Authority to be receive a badge and have no ramp restrictionsCurrent Valid Driver’s License

Technical Skills:

Must be able to read and interpret electrical/avionics system drawings and blueprints, as well as have the ability to use hand tools and electronic test equipment.

Communication Skills:

Must be able to read and speak English. Must be able to communicate effectively with other personnel.

Mathematical Skills:

Basic math skills.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Budget Responsibility:

Assist department managers in maintaining a specified budget.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • A & P License required;
  • Inspection Authorization License preferred.

Computer Skills:

Basic computer aptitude required

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Occasional periods of walking, sitting, rotation, bending, pushing, pulling, and reaching.
  • Occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs, and frequently lifting up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

  • Frequent exposure to general shop conditions, engine noise.
  • Frequent exposure to aircraft exhaust, moving mechanical parts, lubricants, metals, and solvents.
  • Frequent exposure to seasonal weather.
