CE Avionics is seeking an experienced Director of Installation Operations to lead and manage all aspects of our avionics installation department. This senior leadership role is responsible for operational performance, regulatory compliance, quality, scheduling, cost control, and customer communication throughout the installation process. The Director of Installation Operations works closely with Sales, Quality, Installation Leadership, Inventory Control, and Accounting to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
This position plays a critical role in supporting the Repair Station’s operational performance, regulatory standing, and long-term growth.
- Serve as a key operational leader responsible for ensuring full compliance with FAA Part 145 regulations, approved data, and Repair Station Manual / Quality Control Manual requirements.
- Proficient at reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics and utilizing equipment manufacturer’s installation manuals
- Review and approve installation drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical data packages for technician use and FAA acceptance
- Own installation execution from induction through return to service, ensuring schedule adherence, workmanship quality, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction
- Accountable for installation department financial performance, including labor efficiency, cost of sales, margin performance, and work-in-process control.
- Coordinate testing and troubleshooting of installed avionics and electrical systems
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers during active installations, including updates and approvals
- Support Sales with job quoting, bids, labor availability, scheduling, and sales opportunities
- Lead, develop, and hold accountable a multidisciplinary avionics installation team, including Leads and Coordinators, to meet operational and regulatory objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement in installation processes, documentation, scheduling, and labor utilization to support operational scalability and improved throughput.
- Coordinate scheduling and workflow with the Installation Lead and Installation Coordinator
- Review completed work order packages for FAA and company compliance per the Repair Station Manual and Quality Control Manual
- Verify labor hours against installation quotes for accurate billing
- Prepare completed work order packages for invoicing and coordinate with Accounting on final billing
- Coordinate aircraft delivery with customers and ensure approved payment methods are secured
- Evaluate installation staff performance and identify training and skill development needs
- Ensure personnel are assigned only to tasks for which they are properly qualified
- Promote and enforce company policies, safety procedures, environmental compliance, and housekeeping standards
