GENERAL SUMMARY: Performs any combination of the following tasks through verbal or detailed written instructions: manufacture/disassemble/ perform minor rework/minor of repair surface mount and/or through-hole printed circuit card assemblies, subassemblies, and/or electro-mechanical assemblies. Duties include (but are not limited to) board and/or component preparation, printed circuit board stuffing and/or assembly, touch up, manually soldering components, box-building, performing modifications, upgrades, or removal and/or replacement of standard electro-mechanical, surface mount, through-hole components. Tends machines that solder and/or desolder, press, shape, wind, or place component parts. Cleans and deglosses parts using cleaning devices, solutions, and abrasives. Performs intermediate assembly tasks, such as conformal coating, potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, bonding, curing, stamping, etching, impregnating, and color-coding parts and assemblies May perform informal, in-process self-checks on manufactured items prior to submitting to authorized formal inspection and/or test personnel for determining product validation and final acceptance. May assist other related job classifications when directed. May assemble cabinets, chassis, consoles, or similar devices with manual and electronic/electro-mechanical equipment. May assist other related job classifications when directed.
Be able to interpret process routings, wiring diagrams and similar production planning documents or drawings. Must be familiar with the collection and analysis of data for Statistical Process Controls. Solder verification for cables and chassis work is required.
Performs other required activities, as assigned. Must demonstrate competencies necessary to meet business requirements. May perform as a member or leader of a functional and/or cross-functional team.
EDUCATION REQUIRED: High School degree or GED equivalent.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Two years’ experience in assembly/rework/repair of electronic equipment including circuit cards with surface mount and through-hole components is desired but not mandatory.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED. A practical knowledge of such as: electronic component identification, ability to work from routing instructions, and interpretation of mechanical and electrical schematics is required. Previous training in industry soldering and assembly standards (IPC– 610, IPC-620, IPC– 7711, and/or J-STD-001) and experience in Electronic Worker Cable & Chassis position is preferred.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Maximum weight to be handled will be aligned with Environmental Safety and Health governing documentation. The majority of the work is to be performed in a sitting position. May occasionally perform duties in a standing, kneeling or squatting position. Good eyesight and ability to distinguish color is necessary.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The position requires the use of solvents, flux, thinners, and other cleaning compounds. Use of visual aids may be required such as magnification lenses, binocular microscopes, and specific personal safety equipment. Secret security clearance may be required. Ability to achieve and maintain appropriate solder certifications is a requirement of the position.
