Summary:
Perform high-mix, low-volume assembly of SMT and through-hole components on complex printed circuit boards (PCBs).
Execute removal, replacement, and repair of bottom-terminated components, including:
QFNs (Quad Flat No-Lead)
BGAs (Ball Grid Arrays)
LGAs (Land Grid Arrays)
Utilize hot-air pencils, hot plates, and other rework tools to perform precision soldering and component replacement.
Conduct reflow, pre-heat, and cooling cycles in accordance with component-specific thermal profiles.
Operate and maintain X-ray inspection equipment to evaluate solder joints on hidden pads and verify rework quality.
Interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, work orders, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure proper component placement and orientation.
Perform in-process quality inspections, including:
Troubleshoot solder-related defects such as:
Tombstoning
Voids
Solder bridges
Implement corrective actions to improve quality and reliability.
Maintain an ESD-controlled environment and follow all safety, quality, and compliance procedures.
Support continuous improvement initiatives, including tooling upgrades and process enhancements.
Requirements:
Strong hands-on experience with SMT and through-hole soldering.
Experience with electronic component rework and repair, including bottom-terminated devices (QFNs, BGAs, LGAs).
Experience using advanced soldering and rework equipment.
Ability to operate or work with X-ray inspection systems for solder verification.
Ability to read and interpret engineering documentation, drawings, and BOMs.
Strong troubleshooting skills related to soldering defects and PCB assembly.
Comfortable working under a microscope for extended periods while inspecting and reworking PWBs.
Ability to read and write English.
Must successfully complete and pass a medical exam as outlined in supplier guidelines.
Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
