POSITION PURPOSE
Authorizes, regulates and controls airline flights according to government and Company regulations to expedite and ensure flight safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

- Monitors flight operations, individual flight planning, releases, aircraft routing, flight monitoring, weather and operation advisory service duties.
- Records departure and arrival times of flights and keeps computer systems up to date.
- Establishes and publishes to all stations the planned aircraft routing. Adjusts plan for maintenance issues, weather, airport closures or other issues.
- Arranges for ferrying of flights as needed.
- Provides weather information for flight crews. Updates the flight crew of significant changes to weather or flight plan and recommends flight plan alternates, such as changing course, altitude and, if required, en route landings in the interest of safety and economy.
- Releases flight crews to operate flights on their scheduled block.
- Coordinates with ground operations on any crew or aircraft changes.
- Coordinates diversions with Customer Service to ensure the best possible passenger convenience.
- Records all non-routine incidents in the station log and completes appropriate forms and reports.
- Initiates emergency procedures and notifications when necessary.
- Coordinates with all appropriate parties any unscheduled operation of aircraft due to weather, airport closures, emergency situations, etc.
- Provides coaching and on-the-job training as directed.
- Adheres to recurrent training.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE.
High school diploma or equivalent. Possess a valid Aircraft Dispatcher License. Possess Microsoft Office skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, interpret and understand technical procedures and governmental regulations,
sometimes quickly and under stressful or emergency situations. Able to effectively present information
to and respond to questions from management, crew, air traffic control, and internal associates. Able to
speak and be understood in English in person, on the phone and over a radio headset.
REASONING/PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only
limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral,
diagram, or schedule form.to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and
maintenance instructions. Must be able to remain calm, think and react quickly in all types
of emergency situations.
DECISION MAKING
Makes day to day decisions used to support strategic direction. Decisions often require some thought and are somewhat structured. Decisions tend to be short term and usually moderate cost. Able to process information quickly and react in a positive manner during unexpected and/or serious situations. Capable of controlling personal and emotional responses and acting appropriately under high levels of stress.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in Dispatching. Previous airline experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Able to sit for prolonged periods.
Able to use hands to finger, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms at least 90 of
the time.
Able to hear clearly verbal communications in person, on the telephone, and over a headset with ambient noise.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Able to work nights, evenings, weekends and holidays to support 24 hour operations.
