Position SummaryReporting to the SOCC Manager, the Flight Dispatcher is responsible for the coordination of the “Type B” Operational control function of the company. The Flight Dispatcher is responsible for the Company’s “Co-authority” dispatch system including assistance in the flight planning, Flight Watch and coordinating and communicating of all aspects of Perimeter’s 705 aircraft operations, both ground and air.Personal CharacteristicsHighly flexible, with the ability to respond quickly in a dynamic environmentProfessional and respectful, with a positive work attitudeTimely with a high level of commitment to on-time performance is essentialMotivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a teamEffective verbal and written communication skillsAble to think critically and act logically to evaluate situations and provide sound judgmentSuperior time management skills, multitasking skills and the ability to prioritize tasksHigh level of integrity, confidentiality and accountabilityStrong problem solving and analytical skillsAble to handle stressful situations in a calm and effective mannerStrong planning skills and detail-orientedHigh level of respect, understanding and regard for First Nations communitiesKey Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesExercise operational control of flights on a co authority basis with the PIC in accordance with the Company Operations ManualDaily Flight Dispatch duties, including preparation of the Operational Flight Plan and the flight watch function of the Type B operational control system of each Perimeter 705 flight as per company policiesPossess the ability to make informed decisions without compromising internal policies/proceduresMonitor the airline management software, and consult and communicate with all departments to ensure operations run smoothly and efficientlyProvide weather briefings to other SOCC employees when required and inform the SOCC of any weather concerns/issues for the day-to-day operations Predict “real time” and update flight times through the airline management softwareWork with department managers to understand the basic workings of each departmentPrepare various reports including daily, monthly and annual Operational reportsIdentify and recommend efficiency opportunities to management, which would improve upon daily processes to capture operational efficiencies, i.e. improve reporting accuracy, completeness, timelinessDemonstrate positive and respectful teamwork by providing ongoing support and assistance to the overall Flight Operations Control Centre, understanding how your performance may affect the Flight Operations DepartmentActively demonstrate the willingness to share knowledge and learn from others i.e. participation at Flight Operations Centre meetings, other department meetings, training events, point of contact with NAV Canada FacilitiesResponsible for providing training and mentoring to new Flight Dispatchers and new Flight Followers, ensuring that the Flight Operations Centre is maximizing operational effectivenessPerform additional duties as assignedMinimum Education, Experience and CertificationsHigh school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalentPrior experience in operations and/or flight coordination preferred but not requiredMust be 21 years of age or overSuccessful completion of Transport Canada Exams (FD Ops and FD Met) requiredMust be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizationsCanadian Radio License (Aeronautical) considered an assetStrong customer service experience considered an assetKnowledge of airline management software(s)and Flight Planning software(s) considered an assetExperience using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)Ability to read and interpret aviation weather (NAV Canada) an assetIndigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an assetWorking ConditionsPhysically able to perform all listed job dutiesTravel by aircraft and other means as required by roleManual dexterity required to use desktop computer and telephonesModified work agreement (7 on/7 off or Monday-Friday)Work performed primarily in an office environment Able to work outside of public transit hoursVarious shifts at a fast pace in order to meet service level requirements of the airlineOccasional lifting of approximately 30 lbs may be requiredPhysical location of this position is only accessible via flight of stairsMethods and procedures described or implied in the job profile may be altered to accommodate employees.
