Synopsis
To provide flight plans using the TFR (Route Optimizer) function within the Lido flight planning system. It is the Duty Officer Flight Dispatchers task to obtain a safe and most profitable route taking all weather forecast and over flight permissions into consideration. The Duty Officer Flight Dispatcher will conduct on the Job Training session for the New Dispatchers and Deputize for the Duty Manager in his absence.
Accountabilities
- Proactively circumnavigate severe weather phenomena such as Typhoons, Hurricanes, Cyclones, Volcanic Ash Clouds by Using Lido Flight Planning
- Software to produce a safe and efficient flight plan, Minimizing the associated Risks and Ensures that Flights are dispatched in accordance with the safety and security recommendations provided by Etihad, GCAA and Regulatory Authorities.
- Enable the Traffic Flow Regulation, to reduce operational costs while increasing efficiency and select the most optimized route for the flight.
- Manage flight sectors by applying variable speed operation system, to minimize delays by planning flights to arrive on schedule and prevent delays at outstations.
- Reduce Slot delays on sectors from Europe and to Asia through enhanced use of slot management tools and optimizing flight planning software such as
- Eurocontrol Network operations portal.
- Compute the amount of fuel required for the safe completion of flight according to aircraft type, distance of flight, maintenance limitations, Weather conditions, fuel tankering policy based on fuel cost and minimum fuel requirements prescribed in the Operations Manual Part A and by the G.C.A.A.
- Liaise with maintenance for any M.E.L. (minimum equipment List) items, which may affect the performance of the aircraft being planned. Obtain the total number of passengers and cargo from the handling agents to produce the operational flight plan.
- Analyze and evaluate adequate airports such as operating hours, fire coverage, landing facilities to ensure the flight plan complies with the local and International regulations.
- Monitor assigned flights from departure till arrival and ensure that all relevant information is transmitted to the crews via aircraft datalink including possible reroutes due to weather deterioration enroute.
- Provide on the job training with reference to company procedures and processes for new Flight Dispatchers to obtain a GCAA Flight Dispatch License.
- Produce and manage Projects regarding new and current processes and source methods for relevant implementation to enhance efficiency.
Education & Experience
- Educated to a minimum of high school certification.
- Must speak and write English fluently.
- The candidate must hold a valid GCAA Flight Dispatch License.
- The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years airline operations experience, with 3 years spent in a flight dispatchers position. He/She must have
- knowledge of global flight planning procedures including special operations.
- Experience of AIMS and / or Lido flight planning would be an advantage.
- The candidate must have the ability to interpret weather, NOTAM and other relevant flight preparation documentation
- Good working knowledge of Jeppesen Airways Manual navigation documentation is essential.
- He must have sound knowledge of airline operations and computerized flight planning.
- Holds a valid Flight Dispatch license.
- Familiar with all microsoft applications and Eurocontrol/FAA Command Centre Portals.
- Fluent in verbal and written English.
- Familiar with Flight Planning Systems, preferably LIDO.
