Contract Position
Pay Estimated: $59.22-$64.22/Hour
This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors, (geographical location, etc.)
Contribute to a company at the forefront of mission-critical systems and technologies in defense and security. This leader in global defense integrates advanced technology to deliver information and insights on the battlefield, offering roles that support security and technological superiority across multiple domains.
Responsibilities:
Design, implement, simulate, and test firmware for FPGA- and microcontroller-based embedded systems used in underwater acoustic and military-grade electronics.
Define FPGA timing, pinout, and placement constraints; review synthesis and timing reports; and resolve associated issues.
Integrate and validate firmware on target hardware; design and simulate supporting digital circuits.
Develop embedded test systems, including automation software, and document system/software/interface requirements, architecture, and designs.
Conduct trade studies and technical analyses, presenting results to internal stakeholders and customers.
Evaluate emerging technologies for integration into future product designs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
U.S. Citizenship is required by federal law.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience (or 3 years with a Master’s).
Experience designing firmware for FPGA systems using VHDL, including verification and timing closure.
Proficient in microcontroller firmware development in C/C++.
Strong background in digital circuit design, including use of ADCs, DACs, voltage regulation devices, and communication interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, etc.).
Familiarity with Linux and embedded operating systems.
Skilled in using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and soldering tools.
Preferred Experience:
OrCAD Capture, Quartus, LabWindows/CVI, Git.
Soft-core processors like Nios or MicroBlaze.
ARM-based microcontroller development.
National Instruments data acquisition systems.
