We are hiring an Electrical Hardware Design Engineer in Bloomington, MN to support advanced high-speed circuit card and embedded hardware development for mission-critical aerospace and defense systems. This role requires expertise in PCB/PWB design, FPGA-based hardware systems, signal integrity analysis, high-density circuit card development, Siemens Xpedition, HyperLynx, and hardware integration & test (I&T) supporting high-reliability electronic platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Perform requirements analysis and translate system needs into electrical designs
- Develop schematic capture and define routing and layout constraints
- Direct and review PCB/PWB layout and routing activities
- Design high-speed, high-density circuit cards incorporating embedded processors and/or FPGAs
- Support manufacturing, integration & test (I&T), and hardware qualification
- Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and customers to ensure designs meet technical and program expectations
- Apply signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) analysis to ensure robust hardware performance
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM field
- Experience:
- 5+ years of relevant electrical hardware design experience OR
- Master’s degree plus 3+ years of related experience
- Hardware Design Experience:
- Circuit card design (CCD / CCA) for high-reliability systems
- Use of advanced materials, packaging techniques, and high-speed interfaces
- Tools & Analysis:
- Siemens/Mentor Graphics Xpedition (schematic entry, constraint manager)
- HyperLynx Signal Integrity / Power Integrity analysis
- Laboratory Skills:
- Hands-on use of oscilloscopes, Ethernet/network testers, and related debug equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
- End-to-end understanding of the hardware development lifecycle
- High-speed and high-density PCB design
- Designs incorporating fiber-optic interfaces
- Experience supporting manufacturing, qualification, and production transitions
- Ability to independently resolve complex electrical design challenges
