Aerospace Nondestructive Testing

We are seeking an NDT Level 2 Technician to support aerospace inspection and quality assurance operations using NAS410/BSS7698 nondestructive testing standards. This role performs and oversees nondestructive testing (NDT) activities including ultrasonic testing (UT), eddy current testing (ET), radiographic testing (RT), magnetic particle testing (MT), dye penetrant testing (PT), and computed tomography (CT) inspection methods to ensure aerospace components meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Perform and oversee nondestructive testing inspections in accordance with NAS410, BSS7698, customer specifications, and approved procedures.
- Set up, standardize, calibrate, and verify NDT equipment performance prior to inspection activities.
- Conduct system performance checks and process inspections using certified NDT methods.
- Interpret inspection results and determine product acceptance or rejection based on applicable specifications and standards.
- Document inspection findings, test results, and certification records accurately and completely.
- Obtain and maintain required formal training hours and certifications for applicable NDT methods, including additional company-required training such as Computed Tomography (CT).
- Maintain proficiency in certified inspection methods and understand the scope, limitations, and application of each technique.
- Assist with the development, revision, and implementation of NDT procedures and work instructions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, contractual requirements, and quality management system procedures.
- Provide guidance, training, and technical support to trainees and Level 1 NDT personnel.
- Maintain NDT equipment and coordinate calibration, maintenance, and operational readiness activities.
- Inspect reference standards and report any discrepancies or damage to the responsible Level 3 and NDT Manager.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to resolve nonconformance issues and support corrective actions.
- Participate in customer, regulatory, and internal audits and inspections.
- Support EPES surveillance activities and corrective action efforts as assigned.
- Develop written work instructions from approved general procedures for final review and approval by a certified Level 3 or Engineering authority.
- Stay current with advancements in aerospace NDT technology, inspection methods, and industry best practices.
- Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes, inspection technologies, and aircraft or vehicle maintenance principles to inspection activities.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree in a related field preferred.
- Documented formal training in Nondestructive Testing (NDT) required.
- NAS410/BSS7698 Level 2 certification in at least one NDT method such as Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Eddy Current Testing (ET), Radiographic Testing (RT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), or Penetrant Testing (PT).
- Strong knowledge of aerospace nondestructive testing principles, inspection techniques, and quality standards.
- Experience setting up, calibrating, standardizing, and operating NDT inspection equipment.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, inspection procedures, and acceptance criteria.
- Knowledge of applicable aerospace codes, standards, and contractual requirements governing NDT inspections.
- Experience documenting inspection results and maintaining compliance records.
- Ability to provide technical guidance and oversight to trainees and Level 1 technicians.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, inspection technologies, and aircraft or vehicle maintenance environments.
- Ability to work independently while supporting cross-functional engineering and quality teams.
- Willingness to travel and complete training outside the Washington location as required to obtain and maintain certifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Aviation Maintenance, Quality Assurance, or a related discipline.
- Computed Tomography (CT) inspection training or certification.
- Experience developing NDT work instructions and inspection procedures.
- Aerospace manufacturing, maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), or aircraft inspection experience.
- Multi-method NAS410/BSS7698 certifications.
