Job Summary

This position is responsible for developing Aftermarket products and solutions for new and fielded aircraft. The primary focus of the Mech Systems Engineer is to evaluate, design and repair components and systems based on reliability, cost, weight or safety. Use analysis, bench and flight testing, along with good design practices to perform tasks. This must be done with compliance of the governing FAA regulations and Cirrus specifications. The Mech Systems Engineer I must be able to run small to medium sized projects, coordinating easily with many other areas of the company and outside vendors. The ideal candidate will be a Mechanical Engineer with an additional understanding of avionic and/or electrical systems.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and disciplined change management.
  • Integration of mechanical systems and equipment, including:
    • Requirements, development, and traceability.
    • Research and identification of potential solutions to design objectives.
    • Detail design and installation.
    • Test case development, execution, and troubleshooting on both bench and aircraft.
  • Lead small to medium sized projects & solutions.
  • Coordinate design development and system integration within Cirrus and with subcontractors.
  • Develop a project-based mindset and build across a functional collaboration foundation.
  • Generate products to meet FAR Part 23 requirements.
  • Communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Work both independently and within a cross-functional team.
  • Experience with CAD modeling and Drafting.

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering required.
  • 0-2 years experience in engineering field required (including co-ops/internships).
  • Experience in aircraft, automotive, or mechanical design and integration desired.
  • FAA certification experience preferred.
