Bell
is seeking an Airborne Electronic Hardware (AEH) Certification Lead
to join Bell’s Advanced Vertical Lift Systems team and support the Future
Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) V-280 Valor program. This position will be
part of a diverse team of engineers capable of executing in a fast-paced
environment.
 

 

Position Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage program-wide supplier development
    of airborne electronic hardware requirements, architectures, interface control
    documents, performance specifications, test plans/procedures, and data models
    including but not limited to the following activities:

    • Review and approve third party DO-254 planning documents

    • Conduct SOI (1 – 4) audits of supplier’s adherence to
      planning documents

    • Review and approve supplier AEH deliverables as defined in
      Statement of Work

    • Ensure suppliers satisfy objectives from AEH development
      gate reviews such as SRR, PDR, and CDR

  • Coordinate airborne electronic
    hardware development, integration and testing of displays, flight instruments,
    communication and navigation systems, sensor and sighting systems, and vehicle
    management systems between suppliers.

  • Act as primary program airborne
    electronic hardware representative for customer related discussions, reviews,
    and future planning.

  • Lead the development of airborne
    electronic hardware related test requirements to drive systems integration lab
    and flight test aircraft instrumentation design.

  • Lead efforts regarding
    aircraft/system qualification and certification through airborne electronic
    hardware integration and validation/verification testing of multiple systems
    integrated together in a systems integration lab.

  • Assist in the creation of system
    models to include complete traceability from customer requirements to
    sub-system level design elements.


Job Requirements:

Education Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer
    Science/Computer Engineering or other Engineering discipline required.

  • Master's Degree in Computer
    Science/Computer Engineering or other Engineering discipline strongly preferred.

     

    Position Requirements:

     

  • At least 8 years of experience leading
    and supporting all phases of avionics airborne electronic hardware development
    from initial proposal development through successful design, qualification,
    integration testing, flight test, and production including SOI review
    experience.

  • Familiarity with RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-810, RTCA
    DO-178, SAE ARP4754A, SAE ARP4761, 14 CFR Part 27 and Part 29 for commercial
    and military qualification and certification of aircraft systems.

  • Subject Matter Expert of RTCA DO-254 for commercial
    and military qualification and certification of aircraft systems.

    • Familiarity with Open Systems
      Architecture and Protocols (FACE, MOSA).

  • Experience with designing high reliability
    electronics from functional requirements to current industry
    complex electronic hardware practices.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of mixed-signal circuit design,
    analysis, test, and debug that interact with avionics systems

  • Experience with FPGA development and
    familiarity with major FPGA manufacturers and their development tools

  • Experience with integration with DO-178
    compliant software.

  • Experience with System Engineering
    (SE) and Configuration Management (CM) processes.

  • Demonstrated engineering intuition,
    critical thinking, comfort with ambiguity.

  • Strong oral and written skills.

  • Ability to advise project planning
    and estimating efforts.

  • Ability to coordinate and
    collaborate between engineering teams, suppliers and customers.

  • Ability to conduct trade studies.

     

    Preferred Skills:

     

  • Experience with Model Based Systems
    Engineering (MBSE) and Cameo System Modeler tool/SySML modeling language.

  • Experience with Flight Test
    Simulators and Avionics Training devices.

  • Experience in military platform software
    avionics integration.

  • Experience with data bus protocols
    such as ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, RS-232 /422/485, Gigabit Ethernet, TCP/IP, UDP,
    DDS, TSN.

  • Experience with System Safety
    Assessments and Failure Hazard Analysis.

  • Experience with flight control based
    supervised and unsupervised autonomy development and implementation.

  • Familiarity with CMMI processes
