Aircraft Level Systems Engineering Professional, MBSE and Digital Engineering
As an aircraft-level systems engineering professional within the Product Integration (aircraft architecture) team, you will contribute to the development, maturation and deployment of the company’s Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Engineering (DE) capabilities. You will support the definition of methods, processes and model-based workflows that enable consistent aircraft system architecture development across programs. You will also contribute to Research & Technology projects and participate in the early adoption and pilot project use of digital toolchains that integrate MBSE practices in everyday engineering activities, helping prepare these capabilities future product development programs.
What are your contributions to the team?
- Develop and maintain Systems Engineering practices that incorporate greater use of model-based techniques, enabling consistent and rigorous application of SE principles by system engineers across the organization.
- Define, mature, document and continuously support MBSE and DE methods, processes and modeling practices that support aircraft-level systems engineering.
- Integrate MBSE workflows into the broader digital engineering ecosystem (requirements, modeling & simulation, and configuration management tools), developing scripting and automation.
- Support the creation, evolution and configuration-controlled maintenance of system architecture models including requirements, functional analysis, interface definition and verification and validation planning and traceability artefacts.
- Lead cross-functional activities for requirements elicitation, maturation, decomposition and validation, ensuring robust definition of the problem and solution spaces.
- Perform aircraft-level analyses including trade studies, feasibility assessments and early requirement allocation to support aircraft architecture development and decision-making.
- Provide training, support and mentoring to engineers from diverse disciplines on MBSE processes and tools, helping the transition to model-based practices.
How to thrive in this role?
- You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical engineering, or a related field, ideally complemented by formal training in Systems Engineering.
- You have 5+ years of relevant experience in Systems Engineering in a product development environment. Experience in another aircraft engineering domain – such as mechanical or electrical systems, structures or aerodynamics – is a strong asset.
- You are familiar with requirements management (RM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools, such as Teamcenter, DOORS, Jama, Polarion etc.
- You are proficient with one or more MBSE modeling languages (SysML, UAF etc.), methodologies (OOSEM, Arcadia etc.) and tools (Cameo, Capella, Rhapsody etc.).
- You have hands-on experience with scripting and automation to support digital thread processes and data/model integration. Knowledge of interoperability standards and semantic/web technologies is an asset.
- You have an understanding of applicable development standards such as ARP4754B, ARP4761A, ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 for model-based compliance.
- You are open-minded, curious, rigorous and methodical.
- You bring strong analytical and systems-thinking skills, with the ability to structure complex problems and maintain clarity across disciplines.
- You are passionate about innovating engineering – and aerospace technology in particular – and are motivated by long-term goals.
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and naturally tailor your message to suit the audience. Experience teaching or coaching is an asset.
- You communicate technical concepts, project status and risks clearly and succinctly to stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Now that you can see yourself in this role, apply and join the Bombardier Team!
