Job Description SummaryThe Aircraft Performance Staff Engineer (SE) will primarily manage and conduct aircraft mission analysis – fuel burn, payload, and range assessments of various aircraft and route networks. Additionally they will pair this with economic rules to conduct value assessments of different scenarios. These results will directly support future product strategy, engine design optimization, and marketing & sales campaigns. The Aircraft Performance Staff Engineer (SE) will work directly with leaders in a cross-organizational team comprised of the engineering, engine product line, marketing and sales teams.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities  

Additionally, as the Staff Engineer (SE), your responsibilities will include:   

  • Create current and future aircraft models with GE & partner engines and competitor engines. 

  • Define aircraft performance and economic studies that answer customer questions such as technical requirements development (thrust, offtakes, constraints, etc...) or engine design, integration & optimization. 

  • Run and execute economic value assessments and mission analysis (fuel burn, payload, and range) studies for current and future aircraft models. 

  • Provide support, results and key conclusions to engineering, engine product line, marketing, sales & leadership. 

  • Support GE product strategy and design development through assessment of potential future aircraft and engine performance capability. 

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to shape strategy. 

  • Interact effectively with airframe contacts regarding performance, integration, and economic issues. 

  • Participate on cross functional industry teams. 

  • Drive improved efficiency, capability, and fidelity into standard processes through continuous improvement and accountability. 

 

Qualifications/Requirements  

  • Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited university or college. 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering. 

 

Desired Characteristics  

  • Masters degree in engineering from an accredited university or college. 

  • Strong interest in aircraft / airline industry. 

  • Prior job experience with Airframe and/or Airline in aircraft performance. 

  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, & influencing skills. 

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. 

  • Excellent networking skills. 

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
