Job Description:

Purpose

The Project Engineer performs engineering oversight on projects.  The role includes being the point of contact of al communications pertaining to engineering, supporting the program office, and ensuring timely engineering decisions and deliverables to internal and external customers.  The Project Engineer will assist in developing specifications, drawings, and liaison solutions.  Drawing/manual interpretation related to maintenance, and repair of transport category aircraft. 

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Assists in development of assemblies and installations in support of aircraft interior modifications and installations (STC projects). · Prepare drawings, reports, Engineering Orders (EO’s), mock-ups, trade studies and test plans. 
  • Develop modification/installation work instructions, procedures, and recommendations. 
  • Provide progress updates for deliverables on project schedules with Program Office and other internal and external organizations. 
  • Provide liaison support for structural kit development and parts suppliers (internal and external). 
  • Support engineering input for work scope/long lead part requirements for new proposal development. 
  • Coordinate with approval authorities and their representatives for any necessary assistance and/or approvals. 
  • Work within the engineering team to accomplish project-related activities. 
  • Monitor and manage the technical aspects of the progress of outsourcing and internal partners as required. 
  • Apply area of specialty to design, develop and implement creative and innovative solutions to difficult problems. 
  • Strive for continuous process improvements and increasing efficiencies in execution and delivery with safety as a priority. 
  • Maintain close and frequent communication with the Program Office, Aircraft Manager, Certification, Quality, and internal and external engineering team members.
  • Notifying PMO of progress and any roadblocks or threats to the project’s critical path that could impact re-delivery. 
  • Work with Customers (internal & external) in a cordial, respectful and professional manner. 
  • Lead by example always; through professional behavior, integrity, commitment to the company and compliance with its policies. 
  • Ensure the highest quality service, safety standards and performance, with the objective of exceeding customer satisfaction in the re-delivery of airworthy, reliable, and clean aircraft, in a timely manner. 
  •  Other tasks as assigned by the Chief Engineer. 

 

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or 10 plus years of VVIP Interior experience on Boeing or Airbus commercial aircraft. 
  • 15+ years of experience in VVIP Engineering, including experience in the design and modification of aircraft interiors for STC projects. 
  • Experience with: 
    1. The certification process and the airworthiness requirements for a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC).
    2. Experience working with an Organizational Design Authority (ODA), and other regulatory certification authorities. 
    3. Experience managing Engineering Suppliers, and working knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD and other 2D & 3D engineering design software applications.
  • Experience with all phases of VIP and VVIP completions for narrow and wide body aircraft including project design, sourcing, planning, certification and execution of modifications.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills to prioritize workload according to business demands and work well under pressure. 

 

Working Conditions

The work is performed in an office environment, aircraft hangar, at the departure gate or on the aircraft parking ramp.
