Position Summary:
Analyze and develop methods to improve current production processes and/or design complete manufacturing systems. Prepare budgets and estimates overall costs for systems and automated processes then selects and oversees the development of these processes. Take a hands-on approach in developing solutions to support continuous improvement and manufacturing initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, install, test, and calibrate automated equipment and machinery to improve production efficiency and safety. This includes:
- The selection and design of computer systems and software, mechanical and electro-mechanical components, and measurement control and safety devices.
- Writing and programming code, developing system documentation, training and maintenance documentation, and performing a variety of tests to ensure system safety and functionality.
- Provide the necessary technical support for post-installation troubleshooting until the system is functioning safely and effectively according to specifications.
- Research and stay up to date on cutting edge technology, to include but not limited to, manufacturing processes and equipment advances.
- Share knowledge and train ME’s to ensure use of manufacturing processes and machine methodology to support production activities.
- Promote, train, and drive the use of lean manufacturing methods to enhance manufacturing efficiencies and reduce costs. Establishes emphasis and ensure due diligence in the research and development of Return on Investment (ROI) reports for equipment acquisition justification.
- Act as the gate keeper for process standardization and maintenance of best practices. Is steadfast in focus to ensure processes yield product which meets cost and quality expectations, with reliability and consistency.
- Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers and support any organizational manufacturing activities, not limited to Value Stream residency. Promotes positive teamwork environment.
- Promote and ensure maintenance and sustainment of a clean and safe work environment. Promotes safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Reports safety and environmental incidents to supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Accomplishes related results as needed.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical/Robotic/Manufacturing, MS Degree is a plus
- Experience: Minimum of 6 months experience in a manufacturing role with an emphasis on automation.
- Skills:
- Experience with robotics, technology design and equipment maintenance.
- Strong attention to detail with solid judgement and decision making skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems.
- Ability to read blue prints and equipment schematics.
- Effective communications skills (verbal, and written) with solid presentation skills.
- High level mathematics skills (Algebra, Geometry, Calculus and Statistics)
- Programming experience
