Supports the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment. Supports the development, maintenance or modification of system designs/proposals to provide design documentation and high-level requirements to downstream users/customers. Performs detail design development and modification of mechanical and fluid system installations. Performs spatial integration at system or component level and modification of mechanisms/landing gear/ordinance systems. Assists in preparing technical documents for mechanical components and systems. Assists in supporting proposal preparation and new business development efforts. Works under general supervision.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes Mechanical Systems Team is looking for an Associate Mechanical System and Design Analysis Engineer (Level 2) to join our team in Renton, Washington.

Position Overview:

This position will support one of two sub-teams within Environmental Controls Systems (ECS)

Ice & Rain Protection (ATA Chapter 30) Bleed Air Supply (ATA Chapter 36)

This position will support the 737 programs. This includes support of 737 MAX development including 737-10 ATC, 737 MAX production support, and 737 MAX and NG fleet support.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical solutions to a wide range of issues.
  • Develops solutions that are consistent with the organizations objectives.
  • Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects.
  • Interacts frequently with inter-organizational personnel and external customers.
  • Supports ECS in the production and delivery of the 737.
  • Supports ECS in the development of the 737-10.
  • Supports strategic and high-profile design changes on the 737 program.
  • Supports Development Assurance and requirements traceability.
  • Build positive relationships and work well with a diverse team.

Work Authorization:

This position is expected to be 100 onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelors degree or higher in an Engineering discipline (e.g., Mechanical or Aerospace).
  • Technical Knowledge in system controls, mechanical systems, systems modeling, heat transfer, thermodynamics and fluid dynamics.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired):

  • Experience with Boeing 737 airplane programs.
  • Experience working on either a development or production airplane program.
  • Experience with model correlation from wind tunnel and/or flight test data to analysis tools and hands-on wind tunnel testing experience
  • Experience with Matlab/Simulink, Scripting code (Matlab, C++, Fortran), Thermal CFD Tool (ANSYS Fluent, Star CCM+, OpenFOAM or other), SINDA/FLUINT, LEWICE3D, FENDSAP-ICE.

Typical Education/Experience:

Associate (Level 2): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 3 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+1 years related work experience, 7 years related work experience, etc.).
