The Boeing Company is hiring Associate or Mid-Level Aerodynamics Engineer into our Aerodynamics Performance Product Development team in Everett, WA.

The Aerodynamics Performance Product Development team is part of the Aerodynamics Performance group within the larger Flight Sciences organization. Flight Sciences provides design and analysis support for all development and in-production aircraft within Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

Our Aero Performance group is organized in five teams: Sales Support and Competitive Analysis, Product Development and Fleet Support, ETOPS, Flight Manuals and Performance Tools, and Certification and Fuel Mileage. These teams contribute to the entire airplane life cycle from product development to certification, production and fleet support. We work closely with other teams from Flight Sciences, Sales & Marketing, Product Development, Flight Test, and other disciplines and regulatory organizations to ensure airplanes satisfy design and certification requirements for all phases of flight including takeoff, climb, cruise, descent and landing.

As an Aerodynamics Engineer, you will perform analyses to support both airplanes in development and service. You will gain an airplane-level perspective of vehicle performance characteristics to meet our customers’ overall mission performance requirements. Flight Engineering skills cover the entire product life cycle from initial vehicle concept definition, through design, test, validation and in-service support. The primary Flight Engineering skills include aerodynamics, propulsion, loads, aeroelasticity, weights, acoustics and configuration integration. You will influence the development of the airplane, verifying capabilities during the flight test program, and/or supporting our airline customers who operate our airplanes. You will have opportunities to interface directly with other disciplines and the Flight Test community, expanding your network and sphere of influence. You will utilize a variety of computational tools and techniques to reach solutions to complex problems with competing requirements. You develop and use high fidelity steady-state and dynamic simulation models to analyze extreme flight conditions. You’ll be an integral part of ensuring the safety, performance and efficiency of current and future Boeing Commercial Airplane products.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including: Associate and Mid – Level Aerodynamics Engineers

This position is expected to be 100 onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Calculates and presents airplane performance for new and derivative Boeing and competitor aircraft models to support product development, sales campaigns, and airline operations while ensuring compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements and airline operational rules.
  • Assists in certifying aircraft and establishing performance levels.
  • Conducts multi-disciplinary trade studies and define market requirements to support development of new models.
  • Supports airline fleet operations by answering airline queries and providing airplane on ground support.
  • Develops new and improve existing tools to accomplish the above tasks.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Experience in aircraft performance analysis
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams
  • Experience working with aerospace engineering principles
  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations as they pertain to aircraft performance
  • Experience leading projects or teams
  • Strong communication skills (verbal & written)
  • 3 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Typical Education/Experience:

Associate (Level 2)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering (e.g. BS) and 2 or more years related work experience or an equivalent technical education (e.g. MS, PhD). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Mid - Level (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from

an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g., Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years

related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not

required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range Associate: $68,000 - $120,000

Summary pay range Mid - Level: $83, 000 - $148,700
