ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Compliance Packaging Engineer you will be part of the Corporate H&SE team and ensure Honeywells compliance with the dangerous goods packaging regulations.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement global standard for DG packaging testing requirements and create/maintain global repository for testing documentation
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Department of Transportation and/or international regulations for the packaging and shipment of hazardous materials/dangerous goods (DG)
  • Work as shared resource with SBG and Logistics teams to identify more efficient packaging options
  • Develop and deliver training on packaging testing and regulatory requirements to shipping sites and various functional teams to support packaging compliance
  • Keep informed of the advancement of technology as applied to dangerous goods/hazmat packaging
  • Design packaging, develop scopes of work, and coordinate with outside testing facilities to complete UN Package Testing as required
  • Coordinate on DG site audits to validate packaging compliance
  • Prepare written work instructions for packaging operations
  • Coordinate projects and analyze engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Interact with design agencies, regulatory authorities, and suppliers to assist in resolving design, development, production and acceptance issues.
  • Coordinate data required for submission of DOT packaging exemptions or competent authority approval requests.
  • Maintain current and appropriate DG training certifications in IATA, IMDG, TDG, NOMS, JIT, 49CFR, ADR.

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university with a packaging focus; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in packaging techniques and procedures.
