Control System Certification Engineer
Job Description:
DPP is seeking a Control System Certification Engineer for an opportunity in Indianapolis, IN.
 
Location: Primarily Indianapolis and Lafayette, IN
Hybrid: 3 days/week in office (T,W,F); one week/month in Lafayette.
 
Position summary:
  • The Control System Certification Engineer is part of the Software Systems Capability function.
  • The Control System Certification Engineer shall liaise with control system development engineers and airworthiness authorities to create certification work products that satisfy the certification basis of the program.
  • This will include creation of requirements, design, verification and traceability evidence for lifecycle data created during development of the control and monitoring system. 
Top skills:
  • Control Systems Experience (Software-Centric): Hands-on experience with control systems that are heavily software-driven, such as HVAC, engine, brake systems, or gas turbine applications.
  • System Requirement Development for Electronic Engine Control Systems: Ability to develop system-level requirements for electronic engine control systems and structure them for seamless integration into Cameo Systems Modeler for model-based systems engineering.
  • Configuration Management: Expertise in rigorous tracking and management of system configurations to ensure consistency, traceability, and compliance throughout the development lifecycle. 
Key responsibilities:
  • Capture evidence of requirement validation, use cases, design constraints, quality, safety and security attributes, etc., in certification work products.
  • Collaborate with development teams to establish understanding of certification plans, work product standards and configuration management.
  • Establish report generation methods to collect life-cycle data and publish for delivery to airworthiness authorities.
  • Implement improvements to certification work products with feedback from program and airworthiness stakeholders.
  • Liaises with other disciplines to understand the relationships between the many types of life-cycle data. 
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Experience in airborne system development and certification.
  • Working knowledge of associated engineering disciplines.
  • Proficient in requirements management, design and analysis tools.
  • Professional courage to highlight areas of concern and risk with regard to suitability of a product to meet its requirements in a safe and functionally appropriate way.
  • Ability to interpret certification evidence and provide opinion or conclusion as to correctness and completeness.
  • Ability to manage tasks to completion ensuring that the relevant areas of the business are appropriately informed.
  • Ability to evaluate certification evidence for coverage of objectives.
  • Experience in sharing certification data to airworthiness authorities.
  • Able to seek solutions/information from outside of immediate area, including suppliers, customers and certification guidance.
  • Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment. 
Work arrangement:
  • Hybrid: 3 days/week in office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday).
  • Location variation: 1 week/month in Lafayette, but this varies with business needs. Some integration sessions may cause variation. Candidates living closer to Lafayette can work there more regularly, three weeks a month, with one week in Indianapolis.
