Job Description:
The Cost & Producibility Engineer demonstrates accountability for functional and business objectives addressing product cost-out and producibility opportunities or improvements in all phases of the products life cycle. This engineer will perform activities across Engineering and Supply Chain organizations to identify cost strategies, design changes and manufacturing process improvements with minimum guidance, having as main goal to meet business cost and producibility targets.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Identify and execute cost out projects per the VCP Lab - Variable Cost Productivity Lab Playbook mainly for commodities as SHS - Share Hardware Solutions, GM&F - Global Machining & Fabrications and SH - Standard Hardware.
  • Identify opportunities to achieve business outcomes using cost analysis tools, should costs and cost derivatives.
  • Perform feasibility assessments and technical screening for project ideas.
  • Drive connectivity between Sourcing, Engineering and Manufacturing areas on cost improvement projects.
  • Use of judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering.
  • Use of technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.
  • Effectively communicate project status and needs with Business leaders​ to achieve Business Cost & Producibility targets.
  • Strong level of accountability and operational excellence within the team.
  • Uses lean problem solving as a primary tool to solve cost and producibility problems.
  • Actively works across organizations to identify and collaborate on cost and producibility activities and opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Project management ability.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strategic and system thinking, dynamic planning in open - ended problems.
  • Experience in a mechanical hardware design and/or product definition.
  • Knowledgeable for interpretation of technical drawings (2D / MBD) and GD&T.
  • Aware of usage for digital tools and databases.
  • Team player mindset.
  • Comfortable to work with cross-functional teams to achieve business goals.
  • Demonstrated ability in analyzing and solving problems
  • Must be able to maintain a normal day-to-day fluid conversation in English on any topic with few mistakes (mistakes that do not affect clear understanding). Must have fluency, rhythm, and sufficient self-confidence in the language to be able to handle meetings and conversations.
  • Presentation Skills: Ability to communicate with Senior Leadership.
  • Capable of coaching others to accomplish assignments
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership experience  
  • Demonstrated ability in establishing common goals and objectives
  • Ability to translate business requirements into strong technical solutions
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills

Desired Characteristics

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD Master Models knowledge and CAD2CAM methodology.
  • Knowledgeable in manufacturing processes and design process lifecycle.
  • Aware in cost estimate methods as Derivatives, aP - PCS, manufacturing calculators.
  • Proactive and self-driven nature.
  • Data analytics proficiency.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to achieve business goals.
  • Demonstrated ability in analyzing and solving problems
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Awareness of Excel programing and use of Power Query
