The Engineer is an individual contributor reporting to Tomasz Egert within the Aviation Engineering Divisions Production Technologies team. As a Design engineer you will own all engineering functions related to the production of assigned Commercial components in Combustors and Structures commodities for Sourced Hardware and work closely with assigned shops that produced parts for the following engine lines CF6, Leap, P20, CFE738, CFM56.

In this role, you will be on the front lines of a new organization that is dedicated to improving the producibility, enhancing the Engineering-Supply chain relationship, and using SQDC to dramatically improve the health of the supply chain and product to enable the business to fulfil our customers expectations.

Examples of specific tasks you will be responsible for are: producibility design changes, on-going manufacturing support, and strategic improvements across Castings, Forgings, Machining, and Coatings for the assigned commodity. You will closely work with assigned shops, build long-term relations, visit suppliers to help solving problems.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects, with guidance from senior engineering resources, using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. 

  • Have high levels of interaction with and exposure to engineers from multiple disciplines, manufacturing & quality, and regularly exposed to commodity and industry experts all while promoting open and honest dialogue.

  • Travel to manufacturing sites to gain practical knowledge of manufacturing.

  • Support the engineering analysis and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles to improve manufacturability and technical robustness of assigned components.

  • Use engineering judgement and experience to challenge entrenched processes and methodology to recommend improvements.

  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of engineering & manufacturing, analytical thinking, and technical experience to execute on technically complex projects to meet technical requirements and business goals under mentorship of senior engineers.

  • Lead technical projects with low to moderate complexity through collaboration with field and industry experts.

  • Provide support to repair development, producibility improvements, hardware delivery and vendor qualifications.

  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Required Qualifications

•    MSc/BSc in Mechanical Engineering.
•    Basic knowledge of strength of materials, structural mechanical engineering.

•    Be open to constant learning and development.

•    Good level of English.

Desired Characteristics

  • Previous experience in design of aviation components.

  • Previous experience in manufacturing, especially of Aerospace components.

  • Experience with Ansys and Unigraphics.
