Lead Innovation in Aerospace Engineering
Location: Savannah, GA Payrate: $80.52/hour Schedule: 1st shift, 7am to 5:30pm
PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leading aerospace manufacturer to identify a highly experienced Design Engineer ready to take on complex, high-impact projects. This role is designed for a technical leader who thrives on solving critical engineering challenges and driving innovation that shapes the future of aerospace design and manufacturing.
About the RoleIn this position, you will lead engineering efforts on projects that demand advanced technical expertise and forward-thinking solutions. Your work will directly influence product quality, performance, and development timelines across major aerospace programs. You will operate with a high degree of independence, making authoritative decisions that impact broad engineering activities.
What You’ll DoLead engineering projects of significant complexity from concept through execution
Make high-level technical decisions that influence design, cost, and schedule outcomes
Apply advanced engineering principles to develop innovative solutions and methodologies
Review and validate 2D drawings and 3D model-based definitions (MBD) for accuracy and compliance
Ensure alignment with industry standards, including GD&T per ASME Y14.5
Evaluate parts for fit, form, and function based on engineering data
Guide design teams on best practices in drafting, tolerancing, and product definition
Develop and implement engineering standards and procedures across programs
Investigate and solve technical challenges where precedents may not exist
Collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and product teams to ensure seamless execution
Utilize tools such as CATIA V5 and PLM systems (e.g., SmarTeam, Teamcenter) to manage product data
Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
13+ years of experience in a specific technical discipline, or 15+ years across multiple engineering disciplines
Strong expertise in CAD tools, particularly CATIA V5
Experience with PLM systems such as SmarTeam, Teamcenter, or similar platforms
Deep understanding of 2D and 3D design standards and engineering documentation
Proficiency in GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Ability to work independently and lead complex engineering initiatives
Preferred QualificationsMaster’s or PhD in Engineering or a related field
Experience in aerospace design, manufacturing, or product development environments
Familiarity with aircraft structures, fabrication methods, and industry best practices
Proven ability to develop engineering standards and influence cross-functional teams
Strong communication skills with the ability to guide and mentor others

Pay Details: $80.52 per hour
